I'm sure you know all about it. It's possibly the most anticipated game of all time, hell maybe the most anticipated media of all time. That's right, it's GTA VI. It has taken so long to develop that people may even say it is a myth, and I don't blame them.
It has been confirmed to release May 26th 2026, over a year from now. This was announced recently when Rockstar Games had apologised for the delay, as it was primarily expected to come out Autumn / Fall 2025. Although many people, including myself, were annoyed, it's better than the game being unfinished on its primary release date, and we also got a second trailer after a whole 16 months from the first trailer in December 2023.
Now let's discuss the game itself. The one big thing people are excited for is the graphics. From the two trailers, but especially the second, we know it will be a breakthrough in graphics. Many are led to believe that the game is going to be laggy as hell, but at the end of trailer two, we are told that it was shot entirely on PS5. The next big thing is the realism and the features. From the trailers, we can see that there are a wide variety of both old and new features coming. With returns of weight lifting and leaning out of cars. New features are also coming like scuba diving and potentially fishing. With regards to the realism, there are high expectations as, from the trailer, we can see how things are better reflected, liquid moves in bottles, and sand moves realistically when walked on.
There is also a higher amount of customisation to hopefully come, like more clothing options such as wearing shades up, bracelets and things like ankle tags etc. there also appears to be a lot more car editing, like changing seat position or how far down a window rolls. It's not customisation but Rockstar finally decided to have NPC's be different heights. It's also rumoured that everyone's playthrough could be different due to different random events happening during story missions.
Now the negatives. Firstly, the amount of time this game is taking to make. By the time it releases, if it releases when we are led to believe, it will have been nearly 13 years since GTA V, which I find ridiculous and unbelievable, but I understand the game is huge and Rome wasn't built in a day. Another problem which really isn't a problem is how I'm gonna find a copy. The closest and best game store near me has recently closed, and others are set to close in the are. I don't want the digital version, either, but if I must, I will.
the final problem I have is with everyone (mainly twitter / X Elon glazers) worrying that the game will be "woke". Let me tell you something, those people must have had their eyes and ears closed when playing GTA V. It was literally a political game, mocking the problems that America has, such as corruption, with examples like the FIB (FBI) and how Dave Norton, an FIB agent makes a deal with Michael so he gets out of a crime and gets placed on witness protection, while Dave gets glory for stopping the robbery. It also portrays Hollywood poorly, stereotyping Hollywood actors and adding an emphasis on Hollywood murders, scandals etc. Again, it mocks America with their complicated gun laws, and stereotypes rednecks and racists, like with the civil border patrol missions, which explains itself. I don't believe that GTA VI will be "woke" as people say, but will definitely take a jab at America once again.
Overall it doesn't matter as Rockstar games are amazing at making games and won't disappoint.
