Depending on where you go, you can actually download them and or use your iPad/Tablet now, if this is an option, definitely do this as you can either get it super damn cheap, or you can (if you can find it) pirate it.
Or Americans can order the text books from the Amazon UK website and pay only 60% of the typical retail cost (after shipping). There's a whole price-fixing scheme going on in the US on textbooks to artificially inflate their prices.

Some tips to go with that.
Go to a two year before a four year college. Some people jump right into a four year out of high school, and while that may be easy for some, its an absolute horror for others.
With a two year college, you get a sense and a feel.at how college will be like, and prep you for the anoint of work you will be taking in.
Also, always know what you want to major in before you start school. It will be easier to focus on class prepping if you know what you want to major / minor in and you can just go from there.
Lastly, take all of your requirement course first. Get those out of the way because those are the worst classes ever
