List all the awful ways you found a shiny but couldn't catch it. I'll start
I was fishing in Pokemon HG. When I reeled in I found a shiny magickarp I had one great all and it failed. I decided to rage and play Pokemon white.

I was training a Mienshao in Pokemon White. I found a shiny Altaria, but it was in a double battle. I took care of the extra Pokemon and took away a fourth of Altarias health. While deciding what to do next, I had a strong feeling that I was going to get a critical hit. Like an idiot, I ignored that feeling. I attacked Altaria once more and had my other Pokemon hit Altaria.
Guess what happened next.
Yep, critical hit.
Almost threw my 3DS at the wall after that.
I'm not weird, you're just too normal!

You will always encounter a shiny Gyarados in HeartGold at Rage Lake anyway, lol. I don't think they're so highly coveted anymore.
I have encountered one shiny in my life. It was a Nincada on Emerald, and I managed to catch it, unsurprisingly. This is not the pastry you are looking for.

It's because a shiny Palkia is hacked and hacked pokemon can not be used in online battles. It can detect hacks I can speak English in 5 different languages!

In emerald, I came across a shiny slugma, it was ten levels higher the my mudkip, but water gun got a super effective critical, and that was that in one hit. should've switched pokemon

Catching that shiny Psyduck at the Safari Zone in Silver, it fled from battle. Made me a depressed little boy, indeed.

I found a shiny wailmer, but since I only catch magikarp, I took it out using tackle. Then my magikarp leveled up and evolved (forgot to cancel). I had to release it after that. it was my favorite, too. T.T

I met a shiny Marill in the Marsh in Pearl, but it got away DDD: OF ALL THE PLACES TO MEET IT.
I also had a dream I encountered a shiny Patrat in White, sadly that dream did not come true.

i caught ten shiny pokemon (really i did) then my dsi cut off and i didnt save :/
