It shouldn't be just guns. Look at the Colorado shooting.
It's so bad!

Keep in mind that not everything Holmes had in Colorado was legal. He did set up illegal explosives in his apartment that the swat team was able to diffuse. If he hadn't blurted out, during the arrest, that his apartment was rigged, many more people would have died in the explosion of his apartment building than those even injured in the cinema shooting.

The cities in the USA with the highest murder rates (Chicago and Washington, D.C.) also have the strictest gun control laws. Law breakers will always find a way to get guns, and the law abiders will not be able to defend themselves.

During the American Revolution, there were no semi-automatic weapons (Those came about 60 years later.), but families did defend their property with cannons and mortars. Try keeping a mortar round or large, loaded cannon in your front yard today. I'm sure the police would not be impressed. The right of life through defense or hunting for food are import aspects of Americans, from the colonial era to today; thus the U.S. Constitution has the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the Second Amendment.

The problem is not that guns exist; it was that someone with known psychological problems was so easily able to acquire an arsenal of weaponry on government grant funds meant for college expenses, after he dropped out of college and remained unemployed.

That's what I mean by gun laws. They should have a thorough psychological assessment before allowing them to have guns (in Britain you also need a genuine reason other than defence.) All firearms should be forced to be registered so bureaucrats can regularly check medical records. This probably looks like tyranny but it's better to be controlling when it comes to stuff like this.

To clarify, medical records are mental health stuff only. Just in case you thought it was an invasion of privacy.

Flamethrowers are totally legal, as I'm sure railguns are too.

Rail guns and pulse cannons have too much recoil to realistically use on anything other than large vehicles.

It's actually our right to bear arms. IDK if you are an American citizen or not.

Oh yes, let's make it illegal for innocent people to defend themselves, what's that? No? They won't need to defend themseleves because the criminals won't have guns? Oh yeah, how could I forget, criminals follow the rules don't they? And those that don't are stopped by law enforcers? Oh yeah, that's why drugs are no problem, isn't it?

Let's solve the problem by making murder illegal. That way, the criminals will stop killing people.

In Missouri, where I live, if a Federal agent tries to take your guns, they can serve time in prison.

The government has no right restricting any part of the bill of rights. Even if the 2nd amendment was meant for the troubled times when America didn't know what was next, I will not allow for any gun control of the sort be inflicted apon the American People.

Let's look at it with common sense here:
The reason for gun control is to keep guns out of bad people, however what makes you think making guns illegal is going to make it different? A criminal's not going to be all, "Ermagurd I can't own this anymore". How about we fix our broken mental health system before we try and inflict laws on innocent, law abiding Americans
