How to be a good Noodle at the Fair

Its been a sufficient amount of time since my last pointless blog, and i'm at the fair all week so have another pointless blog. But fair edition. I guess.

But yea, so incase you didn't know, I'm in 4H and I show animal projects. Screw still projects. Still projects suck. I mostly show goats, so I'm usually in the barn. And I really care about the animals so If I catch any of you doing anything I'm about to tell you not to, you're gettin yelled at.

First off if you're in the barn with the animals DON'T FEED THEM YOUR FREAKING FOOD. No matter how much they seem to want your food, unless someone told you that you could dont feed them. You could make them sick if you give them whatever greasy fair food you have with you. They get food. You aren't bein a good samaritan by letting a goat or sheep or whatever have some of your funnel cake.

"BUT KITTEN I SAW ONE OF THE 4H KIDS GIVE THAT GOAT/SHEEP/WHATEVER ANIMAL SOME FUNNEL CAKE WHY CANT I THATS NOT FAIR"

Its their animal, they're allowed to if they want. If you ask someone and they tell you that you can then go right ahead. But unless you have permission don't feed the animals.

Secondly if you're in the barn DONT STICK YOUR HANDS INTO PENS Specifically don't let the animals nibble on your fingers. You can pet all you want sure unless there's a sign telling you not to. But don't stick your fingers into an animals mouth and or let them nibble or bite on your fingers. You can either get hurt by being bit, or make the animal sick. We don't know where your filthy diseased hands have been.

"BUT KITTY THAT 4H KID LET AN ANIMAL NIBBLE AT THEIR HAND. ITS NOT FAIR THAT I CAN'T!"

Again little billy their animal, they can do what they want. This rule generally applies to baby animals though, most bigger animals won't try nibbling at you.

Oh and speaking of signs READ. THE. SIGNS. People put up signs for a reason. Maybe its asking you not to pet an animal because it'll stress them out. Or asking you not feed one. The signs are there. Read them and listen to them. Some animals will bite or peck you if you pet them, or you could get kicked. But its your own fault if there was a sign and you didn't read it.

Another thing about being in the barn is IF YOU SEE SOMEONE COMING DOWN THE AISLE WITH AN ANIMAL MOVE OUT OF THEIR WAY! They probably have a show or need to clean off an animal so get out of their way. Don't try to stop and pet their animal or clog up the aisles. If they have a show they have to get to the arena and they have to get there quickly, you're being a nuisance by standing in their way because "Aww look at the animal!"

Also just a common sense thing and doesnt just apply to the barn, THROW AWAY YOUR TRASH! Dont litter you heathens. There are trash cans. Find one. Throw away your grabage and go on your merry way. Nobody likes litter.

"OH Kitten I plan to join 4H is there anything I should know?"

Well don't do still projects. Still projects suck. I'm just kidding do whatever. But yea there are some good things to know!

Firstly if you plan to show animals, namely horses you Have to be in a special club for horses. Why? Idk. Thems just the rules apparently. Every other type of animal should be able to be shown in a normal club. But if you want to show your horse you have to join a horse club.

"Kitty I want to show animals but I can't keep any!"

Sucks to be you kiddo. Jk. If someone in your club is cool and has lots of animals they should be able to let you show one of theirs! Its your responsibility to get over to their house and work with the animal you're showing though.

Make sure you feed and water your animals regularly. Especially with the water. It gets hot during fair and they'll drink all their water fast. Or spill it. Or get stuff in it. They need clean fresh water just likw you need clean fresh water.

Oh yea if you have someone helping you clean stalls and you get in their way while they have a shovel to dump, move so they don't drop it. They should move for you too if they get in your way. Don't just stand and stare at them like a moron while they try to work around you.

By the way, showdays are not fundays. As in YOU DO NOT LEAVE THE BARN YOU ARE IN TO RIDE RIDES ON SHOWDAY. Unless of course all your shows are finished. Nobody wants to have to run around looking for you because you're the next class going up and you're all the way on the other side of the fairgrounds riding the ferris wheel or playing games. On showday you stay in the barn by your animals so you're ready to get them out and take them up to the arena. And if you show market chickens, idk how they do it other places but here you do not leave the barn. Even if you placed low in your class. As they are picking the top 25 to go to sell you stay in the barn. They may call you up to the arena again even if you placed super low individually. Same goes for market rabbits I'm pretty sure.

Oh and keep your aisle be your pen clean! No one wants to walk through an aisle filled with old diry hay and sawdust or wood shavings. It also makes you look bad if you don't clean up. Don't leave trash around and don't leave old hay, sawdust, woodshavings etc on the aisle floor.

Plus a bonus quick tip you didn't hear from me, but if you get fair passes where your 4H is that doesnt include rides, bring markers. You can easily blot the same color as the stamps onto your arm and smear it to get on for free. Unless your fair doesnt do the stamp thing and uses tickets or you have to pay individually. Then you're outta luck.

Take a poster board. Write some words. Glue it to a thin piece of wood. Boom. Sign. Or just put the posterboard with words somewhere without the wood.
