A certain someone who I'm not allowed to mention really wanted me to play this, so here I am, I guess

I'm currently in tutorial h*ck, I kerp getting stopped. I got Smeargle and Meloetta as Mystery Gifts, I tried touse them but they just fell asleep and ignored my commands. I don't really like the tile-based movement system or the art style, but the battle menu looks nice. I can'tfigure out how to get back to the main menu. So far, I'm giving everyone human names, except for myself and my rival, who I named Tyler, because Tyler is just a bit and Tyler isn't actually real, I'm pretty sure it's just Jacob pretending to be Miloni pretending to be Tyler. I'm not really talking to any of the NPCs. Also, I picked Snivy because I don't care for Tepig and I don't like Oshawott. I wish I could move with the stylus, there's a big empty space here used for apparently nothing.

Same comments as above. I'm really not a fan of traditional RPGs. I'm not very interested in the story.

you should've looked at the starter's final evolutions, cos they're what you'll have for the longest

Yep, unless you are the sort of Trainer who doesn't want to Evolve their starter PokÃ©mon (which sometimes my sister does), then it's logical to pick your starter based on your favorite out of their final Evolutions.
(Then again, maybe Serperior would've been his first choice, anyway.)
