It's been two months since Tachi left the base. The past two months have been all kinds of hectic, so I feel like I{ve lost all my youth on that fateful day.
It's been mostly business as usual here in the town. Not surprising, actually, considering that most of us don't really have much to do with the navy. Not directly, anyway.
In terms of what's happening on the base, from what I hear (since there aren't really any reliable sources from inside the base anymore), they've sent an experienced aged commander over to hold the fort down while the duo is away. They've financed some maintenance and expansions, but nothing too dramatic. The goal, one of them said, is to keep everything in as equal a state as it was when they left.
Now that there's at least a commander in charge, it seems like our security isn't as much a question now. We've fended off a few exceedingly well-timed air raids as well as a very brave frontal assault from some wayward Abyssals. That was the highlight of the month when that happened, especially since most of us haven't seen the flames of war in such proximity for months, and for some, a year.
However, all they're doing, as one informant has told me, are near-water patrols, and they've handed off the responsibility to other nearby bases. We're seeing a lot more of them lately, especially foreigners that we've never met before. They along with the shipgirls currently stationed at the base come into town a lot more now since it's rather quiet. They're all still very nice people on the inside, especially some of the other heavy cruisers who were part of my unit before I left. Not the exact same ones, but they're of the same class, so we get along very well.
Time permitting, I might be able to drop by another interesting spot to give you a nice view of the town or something of the like. I can't think of a good spot right now on the spot (haha), but I'll probably think of something by the next time I write in here. Let's keep it a surprise!
Man, sometimes I just wish that work not be so tiresome.
Hmmm... who is this "experienced aged commander" who's in charge now...?
(I can't help but wonder who they are, lol!)
Still, it's nice to know that whoever it is is doing a good job of keeping things together in Gui's and Tachi's absence. (I'm still looking forward to their return, though!)
