First of all, although I had originally wanted to run several Multi Battle tournaments in each of the different generations of handheld games, all of these tournaments have been cancelled for the time being, unless there is a huge demand for a tournament in the Gen 4 or Gen 5 handheld games over Wiimmfi, in which case I would be willing to reconsider holding them.
(I can't do a Gen 6 or Gen 7 handheld tournament ATM due to my 2DS still being broken, though.)
The only Pokémon tournament that I actually still plan on holding at this point, however, is ironically the same one that I was once one of the few people who couldn't actually participate in it: one on Pokémon Showdown.
As for the rules of this tournament, it will be a round robin tournament that uses my own custom ruleset, that is essentially a modified version of VGC 2022 rules.
Eligible Pokémon-Each Trainer will select 4 of their 6 Pokémon for each Double Battle, just like in the VGC.
-Most Special and Mythical Pokémon however, as well as those that know the move Dark Void, will be restricted, with each Trainer only being allowed to have up to 2 of these Pokémon on their team.
Up to 2 of the following UT or LT Pokémon will be permitted on each Trainer's team:
-Any Special or Mythical Pokémon that is not listed in the above list is unrestricted, and will not count as 1 of the Trainer's 2 restricted Pokémon that they are permitted to have on their team.
Similar to the VGC, certain Legendary Pokémon are not restricted, and all of the following Pokémon (even the Mythical ones normally banned under VGC 2022 rules) are not subject to the limit of up to 2 restricted Pokémon per team mentioned above:
†Only Calyrex's base form is unrestricted, and if they are instead in their Ice Rider or Shadow Rider forme, they will count as 1 of your 2 restricted Pokémon permitted on your team.
-All Pokémon will be set to Lv. 50, except for Pokémon below Lv. 50, whose level shall remain unchanged.
-Duplicate Pokémon are not allowed.
-Duplicate held items are not allowed.
-The "Necturna Clause", which limits Necturna to one move learned by Sketch will not be in effect in this tournament.
-Pokémon will be allowed to hold all 18 different types of Gems (including the Fairy Gem), although it is worth noting that Gems only increase the strength of a single move by 30% in Gen 8, rather than by 50% like they did back in the Gen 5 games when they all actually existed.
-Since Pokémon Showdown does not allow the new Pokémon added in Pokémon Legends: Arceus (such as Enamorus) to actually know any moves by default, I added all of the moves that they could learn in that game (with the exception of completely new moves like Springtide Storm, which [A=A=https://www.smogon.com/dex/ss/moves/springtide-storm/]don't seem to exist[/A] on Pokémon Showdown) to their movepools manually, as well as a number of other moves that their pre-Evolved forms (or in Enamorus' case, her fellow Forces of Nature) are able to learn in the other Gen 8 games, which they would likely be able to learn if/when they can be transferred to one of the core series games.
Here are complete lists of all of the moves that these 7 Pokémon will be allowed to know in this tournament:
Wyrdeer will be allowed to know any of the following moves in this tournament:
-Although Pokémon Showdown already allows them to know all of the same moves as their non-Hisuian counterparts by default, I have also added a few moves to the movepools of some of the 16 Hisuian regional variants added in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which they were able to learn in that game:
-Due to the fact that Hisuian Qwilfish already has access to good physical Dark-type STAB moves with their default Pokemon Showdown movepool, I made no changes to it.
-Due to the fact that Hisuian Sneasel already has access to good physical Poison- and Fighting-type STAB moves with their default Pokemon Showdown movepool, I made no changes to it.
-Hisuian Samurott can know the move Dark Pulse, just like they could in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Timer RegulationsJust like in the official VGC, each battle begins with a 90-second Team Preview phase, where each Trainer selects their 4 Pokémon to be used in that particular battle.
In each battle, players have the following time limits:
7 minutes of Your Time
45 seconds of Move Time
20 minutes of Game TimeAnyway, those are the rules that I was going to use for this tournament, although I am open to making changes to them, if the other Pokémon players who might be interested in participating in it would prefer that I do so.
If anyone wants to participate in this tournament, has any suggested changes that I make to it, or has any questions regarding it, please do so in the comments on this blog, on this status on Social Cu.be, or by sending me a DM here on Paint, on Social Cu.be, or on Discord.
Sayonara!
I've been studying this guide to custom rulesets on Showdown and this one on the /tour command to try to figure out what exactly I need to enter to get the desired custom rules I listed above for my tournament, and I think that this is right...
