Naravius sighed, running his clawed finger down a scar below his shirt. He'd finally set the table, with five extra seats...
His family dinners were always hard. That was bound to be true, they WERE a family of devils. But they were especially hard when Markovech was actually invited. As his older brother, he was naturally bigger and tougher, but Markovech wasn't just smaller, he was thin, frail. Naravius knew that his little bro had a health problem, but it was like he wasn't even related. He still loved him, even when his parents didn't, but it was weird. He'd even begun to cut his horns off, as if they were fingernails...
A knock on the door startled him, he rushed to open it and saw Markovech's little face.
"Heyy! Little bro!" Naravius laughed in greeting. He met Markovech's eyes, they looked dead.
"Hello brother..." He responded dryly. This was contrasting to how he'd see his brother outside of their property. He was chipper, happy, sweet. But he turned cold whenever he was near his parents. Markovech walked inside, and motioned to his friends to come in. The five extra seats were for Markovech, who'd moved out, his three friends, who were coming in now, and the love of Naravius' life, Sabbath, his girlfriend. He knew Teo immediately, Markovech's best friend, the shortest man he'd ever seen, standing at 3' even. Then came a robotic figure, who introduced itself as Lev. Naravius was about to close the door when a terrifyingly familiar voice barked at him.
"Hey! Asshat! You just gonna leave me out here, devil scum?" He turned towards them, about to cuss them out when he met his eyes. Yellow, with a slight glow, dark black hair coming over one side of his face, tied into a ponytail in the back. The same mocking look... Part of Naravius wanted to pull a blade and attack him, or get his family out of here. He touched one of his scars, and the boy smiled. "You're Markovech's brother? I thought you two looked similar... I remember you... do you remember me?" He said, eyeing his scars as a small grin crept across his face. Markovech turned and headed over.
"What is it Nakko?" He asked. So the monster, the one who killed his friends... had a name.
The boy shrugged. "Nothing, just waiting for your absolutely lovely brother to let me, his guest, in." Naravius looked at his brother and hesitantly let him in. As "Nakko" took a seat next to the other two friends Markovech had brought, Naravius grabbed his brother's arm.
"Listen to me- you see that kid?" He whispered.
"Nakko?" Markovech responded.
"Yes... look, I don't know if you know this but... T-that boy- Nakko, did something terrible to me..." He muttered frantically. If his brother was friends with him, then he may be in more danger where he works than Naravius thought...
"..." Markovech's eyes were clouded. He seemed tired, he turned back to look at Nakko, laughing at the table about something, and looked Naravius in the eyes. "Whatever it is...
Although this might sound like a weird thing for a Christian to say, I think the idea of a story about a family of devils having dinner is REALLY cool (because it is), and I'm looking forward to reading part 2! (Although I'm reading all of these story blogs I missed out on at once, and I'll probably have already read part 2 by the time I actually leave this comment.)
