A rope hanging from a branch
On the edge of a cliff
Just inches from the depths
Ever just ask, "What if?"
Pills on the table
A knife on the counter
The stuff makes you unstable
You just want it to be over
Rope hanging from a branch
Right next to an apple
These thoughts in your head
And the urge to dabble
When you hear your name called
You take another fucking drink
They say it in your head
Urging you to think
Drown in your intoxication
Leaves room for imagination
Live life in a dying nation?
Or give into self-mutilation"
These ideas are a guide
To where I reside
These thought's are comfortable
I know them as home
But I don't want a guest
I'll live here alone
So don't come here
When you're in despair
I won't let you stay
But it's because I care
This home is a hell
I'm locked inside
It lets emotions fester
Leaves scars to hide
It's not a way to live
To wanna take your life
I may seem happy
But I barely survive
If it costs me my life
To dwell in shared strife
Then it costs me my life
But it won't be by knife
Or tree
Or cliff
Or pill
Or water
Because I may be a coward
But I'm not a lamb to the slaughter
So do not try to escape it
If this all seems dire
Cause living in this home
I walk on a wire
Some may call me weak
Or dub me a liar
But they say it's out of the pan
and into the fire.

I dunno.
I guess I see suicide in a way that it beckons. It wants you to come to it, to succumb. And some fall to it.

I thought it was interesting because it's actually the words used by the prophet Isaiah when referring to the coming Messiah, Jesus. He was "led like a lamb to the slaughter" and died for us to give us eternal life where there is no pain. Just thought it was an interesting and fitting connection. Whether it was intentional or not.
