Hey there, Stickman here. Have you ever wanted to build a discord community but don't know where to start? Well this document will explain tips on how to build a good community! Even though this is dsi paint, I would like to share my discord building experience to everyone!
1. Bots & Integration
In discord, you can invite bots in your server, some range to fun stuff, to moderation stuff, But in server building, you don't want to add too many bots or else it will look bad, if you don't know what to add ill leave a list down bellow for you to add and my reason to add them
1. Wick - Anti Raid protection
2. Sapphire - AI Auto mod
3. Dyno - Easy to use commands for moderation
4. Unbeliveaboat - Custom Economy
5. HUGE - Use any music platform to listen to music in vc
2. Roles
Role is a main key in your server and it will give your rank organization of who is a owner, whos a staff, what bot there is, and the members! without this properly set up, Your server can lead to disaster.
3. Chatroom
You should give your users different chatroom to talk into, like meme channel, media channel, food channel, etc. making your member chat in one channel will leave your user's board and them potentially leaving the server
4. Staff stuff
For your staff you should have the following stuff
-Logs
-Mod only announcements
-staff chatroom
-staff only vc
this can make your server mod team more active and working on the server.
5. webhooks
I don't see everyone do this but PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WEBHOOKS!
with webhooks you can send embeds in specific channels, making your server look more good and professional, instead of using plain old boring normal text for rules
IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT SHARE WEBHOOK URL TO ANYONE! THIS IS ONE WAY FOR PEOPLE TO RUIN A SERVER
And that's what I have so far, until I drop discord tutorial videos on my YouTube page! If you read this far thanks for reading!, if you want to join my discord the invite will be in my profile, alongside my YouTube, and possibly after this blog being posted I will be working on a YouTube videos explaining features that discord servers should have!
i remember making a server called Willow's Playhouse (it was ripped from Alfred's playhouse)
The owner is an OC who i named Willow, with pretty clear rules and stuff. The main 4 channels were called ice cream scoops. General was Vanilla Scoop, Art was Strawberry Scoop, Music was Chocolate Scoop, and media is Mint Scoop. Of course, a mod added a "spicy" section where people could be spicy without the Ice cream cone (what we called the 4 main scoops) being bombarded with hot sauce (the nsfw stuff) toppling it. Then was the dungeon, where only I could access. The rules state to not look in there. Creepy shit happens there (ooga booga gimme your liver, not disc mods being preds) and i invited my friends in there. Nobody else was in there except the co-host, My ex-friends (who i banned) and the friends who i accidentally ghosted because i went inactive on my main. I have an alt now (who's not in the server) and i'm thinking of remaking the playhouse. Ty!
