I walked down the street of Boston, hearing the chatter of people as I walked by. They called out, greeting me. I ignored them. I wasn't in the mood for friendly gestures today, I had some issues to sort out mentally, with alcohol. I arrived at the local bar and plopped myself down on one of the bar stool and looked around. Rge walls were a blackish grey color with a friendly green carpet floor. There were a few pool tables dotted around the right side of the bar for the people to use and an offensive amount of televisions with various sports playing on them. This wasn't the type of bar to contemplate, or rather get so drunk you can't feel anything anymore. Nevertheless that's what I arrived here to do. To drown my sorrows in a finely crafted cocktail. I ordered a drink and waited for it, the bartender was a spry young lad, he looked to be around 25. He wore a black polo shirt, jeans and shoes with no socks. He had short brown hair, which he kept shaggy but somehow worked out well. His face was kind and welcoming, yet serious and stern at the same time. Professional yet goofy. He was tall with broad shoulders and a slim waist, very good looking. He sat the drink down in front of me. I took a long slow sip of it. Apparently there weren't a lot of day drinkers here. Most people had various sodas. Krap Kola, spite, Doctor indescribable flavor....
They just came for conversation and to enjoy the various pool tables.
Someone sat down next to me, a familiar short bearded redhead. "Hey man!" John greeted.
John had been my friend ever since I moved here. The only one I also felt safe telling my story to. Aside from you of course but...I don't know you.
You can't hurt me.
Which is precisely why I'm telling you this.
"Hi." I replied to John quietly, it took every being in my body to talk normally as by now I've downed the cup and have begun to see unicorns.
"Did you get rejected again?" John asked gently.
"No....You wouldn't believe what happened....You'd think I'm crazy." I answered.
"I already think you are. Please tell me." John spoke.
I explained everything and a shadow crossed his face as he gave me a look of pure dismay.
"Danny..."
"Don't call me that Joh-"
"I thought I was seeing things Danny! But if you saw thing thing in the woods too then....." His sentence trailed off o silence as he paused. "Bartender I'm actually gonna need one too!" He called out.
John leaned closer to me and whispered.
"Dude, that forest is terrifying. There's been multiple reports of missing people and overall weird occurrences." He said. I continue to sip my drink and watch the intense pool game in the background. My mind drifting; there was a familiar man in a leather jacket, however I couldn't place my finger on who he was....It must of slipped my mind. I felt eerie though. I decided to quickly finish my drink and ride it out, then I'd go home.
"Uh-huh...." I replied to Johns earlier statement, sipping faster.
"But, lets not worry about it for now...We should finish our drinks, then we could play some pool. I want to finally break your win streak!" John jeered, giving me a playful punch to the arm. He has had not a drop of alcohol so far, but is already saying things that are incorrect. There was no beating me. I chuckled to myself, forgetting the tension and my original plan to finish my drink and leave. Which in retrospect, I should have done.
John and I played several games of pool, by the time we finished it was night time and we were very drunk. When I saw the man in the leather jacket stumbling towards me. "Hey, I know you!" He yelled, clearly not sober. Then it clicked, it was Edmund, the leader of the game I was in. Edmund, was a complete basshat. He was extremely mean, violent and selfish. I hated him, so much. He looked down upon everyone else around him. His family was wealthy, and had been doing business with the government for years. He had highly illegal weaponry because of it. Luckily he didn't have any of it on him right now. I was about to say something when he punched me in the face, making me stagger backwards, John tried to grab him but got shoved to the floor. I raised my fists and blocked his incoming attacks, I was great at hand to hand combat, but there was only one problem. I was still very drunk and seeing unicorns.
The way I describe this fight makes it seem way cooler than it really was. After blocked about three of his punches, he charged at me, intead of trying to stop him like an idiot, I stepped over to the right slightly, letting him hit the wall. He screamed some not so nice words the lunged at me. This time he punched me in the stomach, knocking the wind out of me, with a hearty "Ooof!"
I stumbled back a little bit, taking some deep breaths, which made Edmund laugh hysterically.
He attacked me again, this time I jumped back slightly then grabbed him, throwing him at some tables, knocking him out. John grabbed me and began running us out of the bar. "We should probably get out of here...." He said as we ran off into the night.
