(Warning: The events, people and locations in this story are purely fictional and are not intended on represent any real events or some real country, any similarity with real historical events are purely coincidental)
-All Leolandians can agree in that, Erika lived such a traumatic and hard childhood, the domestic abuse of her father caused on her, such a tough and firm personality, and some anger problems, even with that, her mother was only of the few who always supported her, and when her father finally died, and she moved with her mother Mariana and her cousins Paúl, Raúl and Saúl, to Daniel's house, that started a new era for her life.
-Erika also moved to a better school, and a new school means new friends to meet, Erika was such good student too, she was the best at Math, Geography, History, Spanish, and P.E. But she had more complications in other subjects, specially in biology, physics, chemical and drawing, anyways, she always tried her best. Talking about friendships, She has some difficulties to make friends, the girls of her class used to say to Erika:
"A weird gal"
"the cave girl"
"wild princess"
Most of her female classmates said to Erika nicknames like those ones, they said she was "unfeminine", or too much "tomboyish" Meanwhile, and talking about her male classmates, she always had many suitors, the boys always said about her things like:
"The Girl of Iron"
"A Woman with honour"
"The most beautiful and brave gal"
One of her suitors was a boy called Marco José Castillo, when he knew about that new girl in his school, he fastly fell in love on her, but that smol poor guy didn't have the balls to declare his love to Erika, he was also such an introvert guy. Until one day he finally decided to try it, He went to the school patio where Erika was, and with support of his friends who sang as mariachis, Castillo went with Erika holding a large cardboard billboard he made himself, that billboard said "¿Quieres ser mi novia?" (who means in Spanish: "Do you want to be my girlfriend"
So Erika hardly laugh, almost choking, and said:
"HAHAHAHAHA, WHAT A FUNNY JOKE, But no, you're such a weird guy, no thanks, i like being single"
Everybody saw it, Castillo just began to cry, sad for being rejected by his crush, and ran away, but he didn't saw the way he was running, he collided with the mast of the Spanish flag, even the red, yellow and purple republican tricolor saw such stupidity that happened, but for Castillo it was not that funny, that blow left a big bump on his head, being the laughing stock of the entire school at that recess.
Erika's school years was full of many other funny anecdotes, like when some boy tried to kick a soccer ball, and accidentaly hit her face while she was in the public of the soccer field . Or that time when she was bullied by some brat girl, so Erika only needed to gave her one single punch in the stomach, for that girl learn about respect, but the bully accidentally vomited from the hard punch, and that gross threw up fell on Erika's head.
But ignoring funny anecdotes, Erika used to go to libraries often, she really loved to read, specially she liked books about History, Politics and Military History, she find out awesome that topics.
But when she was 12 years old, it was 1936, the start of the Spanish civil war, and the problems of that war also felt on a far away overseas territory, like in continental spain, the two main factions were the Republicans, and the Nationalists leaded by Franco, but specifically here in Leoland, also there was independentist factions, who wanted to separate this country from Spanish administration, Paúl, as the corrupt general who he used to be, "supported" the republican army (he didn't nothing useful for the republicans during the war actually, just being corrupt), while Raúl and Saúl decided to join the nationalist band, because the wasn't happy with the Spanish Republic, but the also didn't want the Leolandian independence.
This had Erika a little worried, because during the time she was living in Daniel's house, he had some friendship and good times with her old cousins, while her mother was worried about the insecurity, the battles and the destruction of the war, fortunatly, they had the good luck of surviving the war, and Daniel's estates didn't got destroyed, the Spanish Civil War ended in 1939, when Erika was 15 years old, and the nationalist leaded by General Francisco Franco won the power of Spain.
3 years later, in 1942, Erika finally was an adult woman, 18 years old, at that time, the world, (and specially Europe) was a chaos, the World War 2 was happening, the Nazis conquered half of Europe, and they were invading the Soviet Union since the previous year, during this chaotic time, Spain was neutral, so neither Spain or their colonies suffered the massive destruction of WW2.
While the world was in chaos, Erika decided to follow the steps of her cousins, and join the army, she was such an good soldier for the francoist army, first being a simple recruit, and during the years, she became a very excellent trainer, instructor, she helped on the Francoist control in the Spanish Leoland too, and in August 13th 1950, she turned into a general, even being a young girl of 26 years old, obviously, this wasn't only for her excellent work in the army, but also the corruption of the Francoist regime helped her, she learned some of the corruption tactics of her older cousin Paúl.
So Erika now had more ambition, and she now wanted to be the colonial governor of the Spanish Leoland, but her plans was stopped, because two years later, the UN decolonization plans made the Spanish Authorities leave Leoland, making true the independentist dream of a Independent Leolandian Republic, the Leolandian Generals on the Spanish Army had the option for staying in the Spanish Army, or being transferred as generals of the new Leolandian Army, so Erika and her cousins decided to move to Leolandian Army, Raúl and Saúl also turned into generals early for the Francoist Regime, for their good performance at war, and now, the first Leolandian military elites was just formed.
Erika convinced her three cousins of join her plans, she used the persuasion abilities she learned in Spanish Army, and now, the plan was ready, and they finally waited a perfect moment to make the coup, and that moment happened in 1957... But that's another story, which I already told you about before...
