March 5th 1918, was the date when my great grandmother Paola Josefina Torres was born, in City of Mexico, capital of the country of Mexico.
She was born in a very poor neighborhood, She couldn't even go to the school, her father used to be a Shoemaker, his name was Néstor Patricio Torres, he was a single father, because his wife and Paola's mother, Antonieta Rafaela Nieves, died after giving birth to her daugher Paola, the birth was too hard for Antonieta, and she couldn't resist during the recovery.
So Paola grew without a mother, without money, without education, and surviving on a very old and damaged house, with the few money that her dad could gain making shoes.
Even with that problems, Paola and her parent tried to survive and have a positive life, atleast they were healthy, and resisting the hard conditions of their lifes.
Paola made some friendships with some other kids of their neighborhood, also, she was poor but pretty, the beauty of the hood, and her father always was thinking and praying for giving her a better life.
Eventually, an opportunity came, a rich bourgeous man was looking for a high-quality shoes, and heard about some little shoe workshop on some poor hood, some friend said to him that in that place are made very good shoes, so he came to the hood, and met Néstor.
the bourgeous said:
"-I heard about this place, it is true that in this place made very high-quality shoes"
Obviously, Néstor saw an opportunity in that customer, because with such an ellegant suit, he tought maybe he was rich, so said:
"-I just do what i can, but i put too much effort on every shoe i made, wanna buy someones"
The bourgeous said:
"-Yes, a pair of shoes... Uhh, Hey! Who's that pretty girl of here?"
Néstor replied:
"-She's Paola, my daugher, i work very hard for giving her a better life, but sadly i can't give her something better"
And the bourgeous replied:
"-I have a son, she's a 24 man, but he's still single, he wants a woman, with he being single, he became a shame for most of our family, but i'm still supporting him, HEY! i have a proposal, what if we let my son and your daugher to meet, so they maybe could... Get married, what you say?
Néstor looked to be a bit irritated, but he really wanted to do something for her daugher and replied:
"-Ugh... It's OK"
In that moment was 1936, so Paola already was 18 years old and already could get married.
Paola heard this and said:
"-WAIT WHAT?!"
She was confused, but that was her only opportunity for not being poor anymore. So the time passed, and he met that man's son, a Rich boy called Rodrigo Manuel Hernández, he was such an arrogant person, his father show to him that girl called Paola and Rodrigo said:
"-EEEW... A POOR PERSON? It has good luck of being pretty... but ewww"
So his father replied:
"-YOU ALWAYS SAID THAT YOU WANTED TO MARRY SOME WOMAN TO STOP BEING A SHAME FOR THE FAMILY, SO DON'T REPLY OR CRY"
Paola didn't had any other option, she and her father needed the money, so the wedding finally happened in July 3rd 1936, Paola didn't looked too happy, but she knew it was for her future.
Eventually, during her marriage, she finally could study, and learning the things she couldn't read when she was just a poor child.
The years passed, and her husband Rodrigo eventually tried a cigar, because was the birthday of some important member of the family, and his smoker-drunk uncles convinced him to try some cigars and liquor, and since that day of 1946, Rodrigo started with his addictions.
Paola wasn't happy about this, but she had no other option, she was also depressed in that days, because her father died for old age, and also she went to her father's funeral.
Paola's life started to suck, she was in a big mansion, doing some home things, cleaning, and living along a drunk smoker husband.
Eventually, Rodrigo's addictions killed him, he got lung cancer and died in october 17th 1965, leaving all his money to his wife Paola, because they never had children, so Paola took all the money and decided to exit Mexico, and she came to this land... A beautiful but authoritarian country called Leoland with a growing prosperity, eventually, she would meet a better man that her former deaf husband, and that man would be her true love...
