The sun began setting, casting a beautiful final ray of light on everything as I drove my dad's van; (Wiithout his premission of course.)
Across a old bumpy country road, in a state which road construction was nonexistant. I hit a pothole which I wasn't expecting. Neither was Chad apparently because he was send stumbing backwards, crashing into Sophie.
Causing her to push him away in the other direction, causing him to lose his balance and fall flat on his face.
"Chad what the hell?!" Sophie exclaimed, not realizing she was in the wrong here.
"Augh.....You're stronger than Daniel....Impressive..."
Chad groaned, slowly rising.
I scoffed.
"Guys theres no need for senseless violence. I brought something!" Veronica chirped with excitement, her hands behind her back.
Oh no, she's planning something.
"Is it a splint?" Chad joked.
"Nooooppppeeee!" Veronica said and held her hands out, revealing the 6 pack of a unnamed canned alcoholic beverage.
"None of us are 21. That's illegal how the hel-"
Veronica skipped to me and shoved her hand over my mouth.
"You're 15 and driving without a licensed individual over the age of 21. Thats illegal too dumbass!" Veronica sneered.
I let one hand off the wheel and used it to play with my hoodie strings. Nervous habit.
"W-well this whole thing is your idea Veronica. Where are we going anywa-" She covered my mouth once more. "Shuddup and drive. Listen to the gps and trust me." Veronica stated bluntly, flicking her long blonde hair.
Trusting Veronica was a difficult task. Maybe because the only reason we're here is because of peer pressure.
...I hated her so much...
"Hey uh....Veronica.....Girlboss....Queen....Bestie..,,.Uhm.....
May I ask where we're going?" Sophie asked quietly.
Veronica shot her a look.
"No."
She replied simply, walking to the back of the van and sitting down, opening one of the cans.
"You aren't gonna drink all of those right? because we aren't..." Chad said with a rare trace of concern in his voice.
"I do whatever the hell I want. I'm 17 therefore the oldest and wisest here. More for me!" Veronica grinned.
I hated her so much.
I'd never admit it though. She was my only way of becoming popular. Everybody at our school loves Veronica.
(Probably not for her personality...)
Sophie attempted to walk up to the front of the van but stepped in-
"Ew, what the hell is this-"
Sophie asked, looking at the mysterious red substance on her shoe.
"This van is preowned. The person who had it last was way into hotdog eating contests. Thats ketchup." I said, focusing as hard as I could on the road with my 2 hours of driving experience.
After making various noises I couldn't possible describe, sophie composed herself.
"Hotdog eating contest...Inside the van?" Sophie quizzed.
"Inside the van." I repeated.
Suddenly Veronica screamed."STOP THE VAN!"
When I heard the stop I slammed on the breaks, causing the van to come to quick stop. Sending chad face first on the floor.
He groaned as he rose up. Veronica elbow-jabbdd him in the side. "Oh Chad, this is getting comedic." She said, swinging the van door open and hopping out. I took the keys of the van out and pocketed them. "Sorry Chad..." I apologized.
"You're good." He replied simply, swiftly getting out of the van. I was behind them, still getting out with Sophie.
"Hey Veronica, we're in a dark forest near a facility!" I called out.
"Yes!" She stated.
"Why?!" I called out once more.
"Yes!" Veronica responded.
I decided to stay back and spend some quality time with Sophie.
"So...What do you think about this whole thing?" I ask.
"I'm only here because you are." Sophie replied, dragging her boot across the gravel pathway. (Scraping the ketchup off.)
I was taken aback by her comment slightly.
First off: Wait, Sophies here because of me? Second off: I roped Sophie into this with me. Third off: OH GOD SOPHIE IS HERE BECAUSE OF ME...
I kinda liked her. A lot.
I'd never tell her though, I'll die being the only person
who knows this.
Well, except you dear reader.
I needed to rub my braincells together to come up with a
highly intelligent response to this.
"Oh....Cool..." I said, my cheeks flushing red.
"Hey, have you heard of....S-something called...The E-Ellipse?" Sophie asked nervously.
"Ellipse, like the company that makes everything we own?"
I questioned.
"Y-yeah, sorta It's uhm-"
"GET A MOVE ON SLOWPOKES, WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAAAYYYY! Don't worry, it's completely safe." Veronica yelled, sitting ontop of the broken electric fence, shifting her weight back and forth.
"Nothing says safe like the 75 'Trespassers will be shot' signs." I muttered, climbing over the fence.
Not realizing how bad of a idea this truely was.
