During this whole book series, i wrote the history about Leoland, my country. And you, my dear readers, knew about many of our historical characters, and mainly the Gutiérrez family, with the brothers Paúl, Raúl and Saúl, and their cousin Erika, and if you remember, i told you about the many positive things that their reign did, like economical growth, or re-taking our legitimate territories, but if you remember, i said that this was also a very sad period, but... Why?
Well, during the reign of the Gutiérrez, there was a several censorship to opposition, and specially Erika was afraid of possible conspiration attemps, so she decided to use the force against them, and specially more against communists, she was really anti-communist, and I admit it, I also hate communism, but even with that, i think using violence is... Too much, and against basic human rights.
So they decided to open a new ministry called "ministerio de salvación nacional y protección interna"
(Or ministry of national salvation and internal protection in english) more known for its spanish acronym MSNPI. This ministry would manage a system of concentration camps in the whole country, every camp would have a series number, and there was like 70 camps in the whole country, but one of the most known of these camps was the Number 64, located on a tiny island on Northern Leoland, and separated from the Leolandian mainland.
In this camp, the prisoners were forced to do forced labours, mainly mining and manufacturing various things, the conditions of life were very poor, the food was gross, and there was also tortures as punishments if you question any order, tortures just like:
-Spanking with whips
-Electroshocks
-Drownings on water barrels
-Mutilations
-Total insulation
And some other ones...
In the Camp #64 there was a man called Ernesto Joaquín Hidalgo, he used to be an opposition politician, he was from the Leolandian Liberal Party (Partido Liberal Leolandés in Spanish). This party believed in the politic liberalism, and criticized the authoritarian and violent methods of the Gutierrez's government, so the party was declared as Illegal, and its members arrested and went to diverse concentration camps. And Ernesto went to the 64th one. He was trying to escape the contry since many time, but he was finally arrested in February 26th of 1969
Ernesto was very firm on the cause of get the freedom, and he didn't wanted to surrender that easy, his plan was very simple, he decided to write a secred diary, where he would write all the things he saw dialy, register his experiences being a prisoner, and eventually, trying to motivate everybody to rebel and escape the Camp.
But it wouldn't be easy, a very very very very very big plan like that, would requer being careful, because if he was discovered, he would face several consequences, so Ernesto must act normal, and act in the shadows, when the guards were not paying attention...
