Communism has been around for a long time. Countries like Soviet Union (now Russia), China, Vietnam, and even some African countries idolize Communism.
Communism is a idealogy more than a political idea. It gives the government power to run everything—from every business and farm, to all the schools, and even the churches (if the government even allows churches to exist—in many cases they forbid anyone to believe in God or even other religions.)
They also told their citizens that their leaders should be treated like gods.
Communism insists that if the government can control all the money, it will divide it equally among every citizen.
That idea sounds fair, but in reality, Communism has failed in every place it's been tried.
The basic reason for its failure is that the powerful government people at the top get rich, while the "peasants" gets poor.
In almost every Communist country, there is always a "famine" that goes around.
Famines:
Soviet Union, 1930s
China, 1960s
My belief is that the Communist government was starving its citizens so they could have more power over them, (i.e, drafting them to war promising more food, more people dying as to reduce population so the government can not be defeated.)
Soviet Union (now Russia)
- Stalin's Furious Famine -
In the 1930s, USSR caused a man-made famine on its own citizens that starved and killed millions.
But first let's explain the man behind it all.
Joseph Stalin Birth and Death
[see image below]
Joseph was a depressed boy.
When Joseph was little (around 10), his arm was permanently paralyzed in an accident.
Like many dictators, his father was abusive and an alcoholic.
After he became a young adult, he became dirt poor and lived under a bridge.
He was also jailed several times.
After this, he became obsessed with Communism.
He befriended Lenin later on.
After Lenin died, Stalin was next in line. Stalin was cruel and mad with power. He forced his citizens to work more and more until they starved and possibly died.
Here is a picture of people picking plants.
During the famine, citizens were forced to pay overloads of taxes and eat a little amount of food.
(Most of their food went to the government.)
Stalin later died in 1953 on the palace floor because of a celebral hemorrhage.
After Stalin's death, the citizens celebrated.
On 1990, the USSR dissolved, Kazakhstan being the last state to die.
USSR turned into Russia.
Russia is now currently fighting a war against Ukraine.
China
- Mao Zeodongs Murders -
In 1960, a famine happened on China just like on USSR.
(Note: I'll keep this short because this is just like the previous story.)
Mao Zeodong was very cruel and murderous.
He gave no mercy to his citizens.
If they did not farm faster, the soldiers would whip them.
Mao Zeodong was also mean to his soldiers too, making them work more hours.
Around millions of Chinese died. Sadly this all was erased from Chinese history.
(if you want, read the other story also about China. )
China
- Tiananmen Square Massacre -
In 1989, a protest happened in Tiananmen Square in China.
with college and university students.
They were protesting at the Communist government for causing a famine back in the 60s.
Then, the government called in the soldiers to form a line.
One of the students held two grocery bags and stood in front of military tanks.
He later was called the "Tank Man."
They were getting quite rowdy, yelling, burning the soldiers tents.
Then, something devastating happened.
The commander gave orders to the men to shoot.
The citizens were killed in waves.
The news reporters went out of the open, risking their lives, recording the massacre. Some reporters died in the process.
Later on, they censored everything (and maybe even everyone!) that took place on that day, tapes, witnesses, reports.
After that, there was no sign of anything that happened, like if it was a regular day.
Years later, one American Marine over there told a citizen, "What happened on 1989 in Tianamen Square?"
The confused citizen said, "Absolutely nothing."
The Marine later then showed him video tapes and old American newspapers about what happened on that fateful day.
The Marine told me all of this on a Youtube comment section.
This doesn't cite sources and fails to look at any of the benefits the people enjoyed during the USSR's existence, and also acts like Communism is bad simply due to some very old events, despite the fact China has very high home ownership rates and is still Communist.

Are the Chinese citizens happy?
They look miserable in their 1 room house.

AFAIK many are, although there are obviously unhappy people in every country.
(I'm pretty unhappy here in the US for example, where poor folks like us can be thrown out of our homes if we don't pay “property taxes” to the government.)

I do see your point, though

We as American citizens, do have free speech. We can call out the U.S government, but Chinese citizens can't.
They simply don't have free speech because of Communism.

True, but lots of non-Communist countries also don't have freedom of speech (such as Saudi Arabia), and controlled speech is far from a core tenet of Communism.
(Anarcho-communists like myself are categorically against controlling people's speech like that, for example.)
