After over 4 years of being unable to play on my O2DS and over 2 years of being unable to play on my DS Lite, my good friend MattTheTekie here sent me an AWESOME (modded) 3DS of his, not only enabling me to play all of my Gen 4-7 Pokémon games again, but also allowing me to play a wide array of other 3DS games that I had never gotten the chance to play!
It may be a while before I am actually able to play games on a regular basis due to the power company shutting down our electricity on November 5th (that's right, they actually shut our power down on the same day as the election), but I'm REALLY looking forward to playing a bunch of fun 3DS and DS games in the near future, uploading all sorts of cool photos taken in those games (and photos of my 3DS's screen taken with the AWESOME smartphone my BFF UwUQueen sent me earlier this year as well), and playing multiplayer in many of those games as well.
On that last note, I do have a few questions regarding Pretendo and Wiimmfi and stuff though:
1. Can I trade Pokémon using the GTS in the Gen 4, 5, 6, and/or 7 Pokémon games, and if so, what do I have to do in order to do so?
2. Can I somehow use Pokémon Bank and/or Poké Transporter to move Pokémon between my Gen 6 & 7 games and from my Gen 5 games to my Gen 6 & 7 games respectively?
3. Is there any way for me to access the Pokémon still stuck in my Pokémon Bank associated with my (still nonfunctional) O2DS?
4. Aside from my new 3DS's Friend Code (1816-0480-9484), what other information do I need to add to my profile bio here on Paint so y'all can play with me?
5. Is there any way to access my old Battle Videos—which should be still stored on my old SD Card AFAIK—on my new system?
(I couldn't by just inserting the old SD Card for some reason.)
6. What do I need to do to get the Virtual Console Pokémon games, Pokémon Dream Radar, etc. on my new system?
(I assume they're in the “hShop”, but I just wanna make sure.)
7. Now that it seems to be an option, should I make my Pokémon tournament one in the Gen 6 or 7 (preferably US/UM) handheld games instead of on Pokémon Showdown? Or should I stick with Showdown? Or perhaps do both? Anyway, those are all of the questions that I can think of ATM.
Also, I (very briefly) popped onto 3DSPaint on my 3DS earlier today, and it certainly brought back some memories.
It was a bit different then when I used Paint on my O2DS 4 years ago due to the difference in the shape of the systems (the O2DS doesn't fold), but it actually worked pretty well for the most part. (It took a bit longer for pages to load than it does on my phone, but not too bad, actually.)
I didn't do all that much here on it though, just uploaded a few images (including the one at the top of this blog), checked to confirm that Social Cu.be no longer works on the 3DS (it doesn't), and saw how my profile looked on a 3DS, which (on the relatively fast connection of the hotspot Matt gave me as well) wasn't that bad.
(It certainly loaded WAY faster than I had expected, and all but 1 or 2 images loaded and displayed properly as well.)
Going forward, I plan on using my 3DS to test and see how 3DS compatible the CSS in my groups and stuff here is, as I haven't had to experience the limitations of the 3DS/2DS myself in a LONG time, and I have always valued the 3DS, 2DS, and DSi compatibility of Paint a great deal, and would like for my groups to work on all of the devices that Paint was designed to work on as well.
1. Uuhh, that's gonna be complicated as Pretendo still doesn't support 3DS Pokemon games... (and for DS Pokemon games, I don't know, I never tried Wimmifi still...)
2. Go on Google and search, PKSM! you'll find the "Treasure Box" [(A lil' song reference-
3. Uuuuh, I don't think so...
4. That's enough aktually! (and like the others said, you'll have to create a Pretendo account on the Pretendo website!)
5. ...Maybe? I (again) don't know.
6. HSHOP! (There's also an another way to get VC games!)
yeah pretendo is a whole different server and not an archive of previous nintendo network ids, so you have to make a whole different account to use pretendo.
I'm glad to help you out. It was definitely worth the money. Il respond with some of the points you mentioned HOWEVER the friend code and any game that connects online IS using pretendo for the network services.
