Hello everybody, long time no see eh?

Sorry about the title, I had to get you guys to click this blog somehow eh? Judging by the fact you're reading this I guess it worked! I've never written a blog like this so please be gentle with feedback, if I spread ANY misinformation please correct me. I HATE misinformation and tell me if you like this style of blogs from me it means a lot since I'm struggling with writing blogs at the moment.
Sit down, or if you're sitting then stand up and sit back down! its time to talk about some nintendo stuff.
First off the Nintendo Switch 2 got announced and now has its own direct. I'm sure you've seen it though so I'm not going to dive too far into it. I know that you know that I know that they know that
90$ is far too much for Mario Kart World. Now I'm not that big of a Mario Kart fan, I played 7 and occasionally Wii with friends so I'm not too versed in how truly graphically impressive or how much lore and planning there is in the Mario Kart lore to warrant it costing 90$. I don't know, maybe its deeper than I think but the issue still stands. Nintendo does what everybody...Ninten-don't...
On the flipside everybody does what Ninten-do. The jokes about Grand Theft Auto Six being 100$ may soon not be jokes.
Thats way too high for a video game and I feel like people need to be more aware of it, video games are for everyone! 90$ will add up to a lot eventually. Even more concerning is that I assume the prices will continue to rise! I don't want to have to sell my PS5, my right leg and the cat to buy the next Splatoon game. Some people are privileged enough to afford that and thats nice for them, but I'm not. Another thing! Paying to upgrade BOTW to the Switch 2 edition is stupid. The upgrade should be free, Tears Of The Kingdom was already 70$...
Now price aside the games they showed off looked really fun.
Especially Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends Z+A!
(I don't even like Pokemon and it looks fun...)
Breath of the Wild is also beautiful at 60 fps.
I'm not negative about the Switch 2, it looks great. I love 4k and 120 fps. (I'm sure no games will run at that but...I can dream okay!) But the treeshouse livestream chat was filled with: "DROP THE PRICE!"
I want to know your thoughts about this whole thing.

I thought it was $80, although
The Nintendo Switch 2 by itself is $449
The Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World is $499
Mario Kart World is $80

If you want the console and the game, get the bundle, you'll save yourself $30

Good advice. If you're insistent on having these games eventually--which I am--you may as well get the best deal that you can at least.
(Even if it's still REALLY expensive, you may as well reduce the pain as much as you can, lol!)

nvm the price is unpayable i'll switch to pc gaming now

I mean, the overwhelming majority of games that I like (most notably the Pokémon series) are exclusive to Nintendo consoles. They have a lot of classic series like Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Metroid that have been incredibly popular for decades now, and for people like myself, it's all but unthinkable to imagine ever giving up on them.
(And by extension, on Nintendo.)

Also, although they have been getting greedier and greedier lately, it's not as though they exist in a vacuum. AFAIK prices of PlayStation, Xbox, and PC games have all increased dramatically over the years as well, and like @Kashbanooka said in the blog:

I agree with pretty much all of the points that you made here.

$90 is way too much for a video game, and while I understand that the new Mario Kart is likely to be one of those games that EVERYONE wants, that is IMO all the more reason for it to be priced reasonably, as they are likely to make a sheepload of money on it regardless of the price.

I personally though that all video games being in the $60 range was a bit much TBH, and this idea that video games can simply keep increasing in price while the games themselves--though obviously an improvement upon previous generation games in the same series in most cases--are largely the same.
(I mean, IK that they're better, but are they really THAT much better?)

I also completely agree about the TotK thing, and as much respect as I have for Nintendo--and have had for Nintendo for the entirety of my 27 years or so as a gamer--this seems like a contrived excuse to squeeze more money out of their loyal customers.

But yeah, the games did look AWESOME, and I will always support Nintendo as long as they exist as a company and continue to produce the wonderful games that I've loved since my early childhood, and my criticism of their pricing is by no means a criticism of them as a company more broadly.

Same here. Honestly, this needs to stop at some point, though.
(Otherwise my grandkids will be paying over $200 per game, lol!)

I get totk because they probably poured more money into paying employees to make it I presume.

(Dollar stores are a direct support for your point btw)
