Good afternoon reader, Veil here. Or if you're reading on https://3dspaint.com/ Then I'm Kashbanooka.
Wow I'm so generous I just gave exposure to a dying small website Wowie zowie!
um where was i
Oh right! Ruler Of Everything is a song written by Tally Hall In the debut album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum that initially released on Oct 24, 2005 but was ALTERED somewhere around 2008. I couldn't find a specific date, please give me one in the comments thank you whoever does this your're awesometastic.
The rerelease altered the lyrics of the song and that's the version that everyone knows so we're rolling with that!
The first part doesn't entirely matter at this very second and will only make things more complicated so I'm starting out with the second one.
All you need to get from the first line is the name Juno, remember this later (You're going to have to remember a lot later btw)
This part of the song is being sung by time itself. THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT LATER.
"In the gallows or the ghetto"
This specific line lists two things. Living in poverty and being hung.
"In the billows even over the sun
Every end of the time is another begun"
dying freaking kills you man. Also "Even over the sun" Is referring to something beyond the sun and space, something we can't comprehend. Remember this because it will be important later.
"You understand mechanical hands
Are the ruler of everything"
The mechanical hands are referring to hands on a clock. Time is asking a question, do you understand that mechanical hands are the ruler of everything? More specifically asking JUNO if he understands.
Now after this it starts getting complicated because now, we're getting back and forth dialogue with Juno and Time itself.
"Do you like how I dance? I've got zirconium pants
Consequential enough to slip you into a trance"
Juno pretty much is saying "Hey look I'm not worthless look at these cool pants and wearing."
Now, zirconium is used to create fake diamonds. He's wearing fake diamond pants so he's implying he's worth more than he actually is.
Time claps back by saying "Consequential enough to slip you into a trance" Basically calling him out on his pants being worthless and calling his dancing a waste of time.
"Do you like how I walk? Do you like how I talk?
Do you like how my face disintegrates into chalk?
I have a wonderful wife, I have a powerful job
She criticizes me for being egocentric"
Juno hasn't backed down and is still trying to prove he's worth something however...
"Do you like how my face disintegrates into chalk." Time is breaking him. He's exposing his vulnerability. His worst fear. His face turning into chalk. More specifically decomposing from death. He fears death.
He continues by the validation train after that slipup before slipping once more. "She criticizes me for being egocentric." His wife has had it with his shit and calls him out on this as well.
"You practice your mannerisms into the wall
If this mirror were clearer, I'd be standing so tall
I saw you slobber over clovers on the side of the hill
I was observing the birds (circle in for the kill)"
"You practice your mannerisms into the wall." Time once again driving in the point that he doesn't matter.
"If this mirror were clearer, I'd be standing so tall!" Juno suggests that if Time actually gave him a chance he's show Time that he actually means something. Still seeking the validation from this god-like entity that he wants to prove his worth to. "I saw you slobber over clovers on the side of the hill" Is Time basically saying "My guy dude pally bro I see you entirely relying on luck since that's what clovers represent You are NOT doing well for yourself" Juno suggests that he was simply observing the birds, which is a blatant lie. The next line stumped me. I'm ASSUMING he was just referring to the birds circling in for the kill because he caught him in the lie. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
"I've been you, I know you, your facade is a scam
You know you're making me cry, this is the way that I am
I've been living a lie, a metamorphical scheme
Detective undercover, brotherhood, objective, obscene
Oh, no, no, oh yeah" Time explains that he knows Juno's fate because he's just like everyone else. He isn't special. Death comes to all. Juno has a full mental breakdown after this saying "You know you're making me cry, this is the way that I am
I've been living a lie, a metamorphical scheme"
I have no idea what the last part means perhaps time sees himself as a detective? No clue there sorry.
"Do you hear the flibbity jibbity jibber jabber
With an, "Oh my God, I've got to get out of here or I'll have another
Word to sell, another story to tell
Another time piece ringing the bell"
Time starts off with jibberish because Juno cannot comprehend what time is saying.
Then time begins to mock human speech, not translating. Just mocking Juno.
"Do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end?
No, you know it must be never ending, comprehend if you can
But when you try to pretend to understand
You resemble a fool although you're only a man
So give it up and smile"
Juno finally gives up anmd simpilly asks "Do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end?" Basically asking "Do you know when you die?" Time responds with No.
Everything he says after that just boils down to "You're dumb so stay dumb."
That concludes it!
(SPACEHEY READERS IGNORE THIS IS ONLY FOR THE PAINTERS! well i guess you can read it too)
I've never written a blog like this before but I want to stray away from the short stories that go nowhere and move on to stuff similar to my switch two blog.
By the way if anyone likes this I could mayyybbbeeee turn this into a series? I had a LOT of fun writing this and Tally Hall is my favorite band of all time so I wouldn't mind it!
