A long time ago, on a planet not so far away, there were 8 Emeralds of such extreme power. Who created them, you wonder? It was the being known as Jezz the Hedgehog.

Jezz didn't take pride on his eight creations. No, he actually believed creating them was a mistake! Born during the time of the Knuckles Clan, died during the time of the Great Darkness, Jezz was a pacifist all his life. Tired of the constant wars, he created the 7 Chaos, their master, and thus departed of the Knuckles Clan.

Jezz's ancestors, the Guardians of Light, were considered gods by the Clans, much to their annoyance. But they let it be.

In Sonic the Hedgehog's time, Sonic and Knuckles were battling Dr. Eggman, while Shadow was infiltrating his ship unnoticed. Jezz called upon the Heroes, to ask them to set him free (His Chaos Control went faulty, and he was trapped in a mysterious multi-dimensional world). They did so, and Jezz helped them defeat Eggman from then on.

A few months into his new environment, Jezz met his future wife, an orange hedgehog named Shelly, who was created by Dr. Eggman using Sonic and Amy Rose's DNA. They fell in love, and when they came of age, they were married. They had two children to descend them.

Which brings us to Silver the Hedgehog, who came along a century and some decades later. He had battled Dr. Eggman Nega to the end, and defeated Nazo. It is unknown what led to the next generation, for him.

Eventually, the present-day Hedgehog, Phantom, was born. Armed with many ghostly powers, no foe could match him. But even then, he couldn't save his family from the Flood.

He is the last known member of the Hedgehog family.
