the coolest thing about this game is Kikiyama made all of the music, sprites, etc. And the weirdest part, Yume Nikki isnt even an Rpg. In Yume Nikki, you play as a young red-headed girl and walk around very strange outlandish places for example a huge black room with randomly placed eyeballs, legs and hands (not gorey dont worry). The reason the maps are so weird is almost the whole game you're in a dream world. When in the real world you're in an apartment with a balcony and a tv, bed, desk, and game system. The only thing to do in the real world (until the end) is play NASU (an 8-bit game translates to eggplant) on the game system. To acess the dream world you have to sleep in the bed. the goal of this game is to travel to the dream world and collect all of the "effects" which are like powers that help you throughout the game for example bike makes you ride a bike and go twice as fast but some effects are pointles like severed head, it makes you a head that drags across the ground at painfully slow speeds. When you are in the dream world you suddenly appear on you balcony. If you go inside your apartment the only difference is 1. no game system 2. you can use your desk to save. 3. you can go out the door that (in the real world) would lead to the rest of the apartment building. Well we're not in the real world are we! walk through the door to go to Nexus!! Nexus is just a black room with 8 differend doors but dont be fooled there are more than 8 places to go. The reasons this game is so unique are everywhere leads to everywhere, this game is creepy and weird as heck and most places in the game are pointless to be in! You can go to one place and be lead to another and another only to be lead to a dead end thats impossible to get out of. well you can wake up just press 9. I would rate this game E10+ because there's a little bit of blood and its kinda scary.
