(There was an awards ceremony going on at the UNSC headquarters on Earth. Soldiers, Heroes, and more were decorated with medals and other fancy military stuff. Spartan 179 got an armor upgrade to MJOLNIR Mark VI, while Lieutenant Hunter and Shadow each got the Purple Heart. Spartan 1337 was awarded a ticket to Disneyland, Spartan 1222 won the lottery, and Master Chief got a bunch of news reporters crowding him. Spartan 69 is getting her awards now...)
UNSC Superior: ... I hereby award you, Cassandra-69, with the Triple Cross, for going above and beyond the call of duty, and for courage on the field of battle! *pins the medal to #69's armor* And with the powers vested in me, I promote you, from Lieutenant, to Captain! *adds the insignia to it's proper place* (more quietly) You now have access to our finest Spartan Recon gear. Go to the armory, our clerk will give you a set.
Spartan 69: Thank you, sir. *salutes*
UNSC Superior: *salutes* Dismissed!
Spartan 69: *goes to her friends*
Hunter: Well, congratulations, Captain!
Spartan 179: Yes, nice work!
Spartan 69: Thanks, guys! *group hug*

Spartan 1337: What the hell was that?!
Phantom: Something big... and evil.
(a giant Black ARM creature, presumably their leader, rose from behind the wall of the building)
Black ARM: DID YOU THINK I WAS DEFEATED?!?!
Shadow: It's him... Black Doom!
Spartan 179: Evacuate the base! I have no idea how that thing survived the Battle of Reach, but we're toast if we don't get out of here!
Shadow: I'll hold him off! *spinjumps up onto the wall*
Black Doom: AH, YES! I MIGHT HAVE KNOWN SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG MIGHT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED!! *fires an energy beam at Shadow, who dodged it*
(The people in the base are making it out, with the Spartans and Phantom guiding them out directionally)
The ceremony was interrupted before you could get your awards. Several soldiers lost their awards, in fact. But it will start again after Black Doom is defeated.
