Eggman decided to scout around for the missing Master Emerald, to help Knuckles.
If I use it myself, I could defeat Oleg quickly. But then he could steal it from me! The doctor realized. I must get the Emerald back to Angel Island.
Meanwhile, Oleg was in his office, having tea. An officer walks in.
"We have captured the Master Emerald, and it's guardian--!" The officer was knocked out.
"... is right here!" Knuckles said, steaming with anger.
"Ah, Knuckles the Echidna. I've heard all about you," Oleg greeted him.
"Eggman didn't have my Emerald! Now that I know who stole it, I can get it back to Angel Island! Thanks to you, the whole island is in the drink! Hand it over!" Knuckles snarled.
"Calm down, my red friend," Oleg replied. "This battle is not how it looks. I'll give you your Emerald back, after my job is done."
"I NEED IT NOW!" Knuckles yelled.
"Then allow us to build a base on your island. I won't keep it there any longer than I stay here," Oleg said.
"NO WAY-- Huh?! Why would I let you do that?"
"You need your Emerald, and I need my job done. I won't build on any old relics if you let me build on that island."
"Hnh..." Knuckles grumbled.
"I won't be here very long, I assure you," Oleg said.
