Tip 1: To survive the night, your going to need materials. Using wood planks, create a crafting box and about 30-40 sticks.
Tip 2: Day doesn't last forever! Trees are everywhere. Coal, however is not. Search high and low for coal in mountains. It should be the first thing to do, as coal is ESENTIAL for survival.
Tip 3: Find a good location. Somewhere higher up, and somewhat flat. Create a wooden shovel, 2 pickaxes, and an axe. Start finding a place to spend the night. Exploration later.
Tip 4: Night should be falling. Wall yourself into your shelter, but leave a 1x1 hole in order to see time of day. Avoid approaching the hole, Skeletons shoot to kill. Place your crafting bench and materials AWAY from the hole.
Tip 5: Mine! It helps avoid boredom, and you can get a head start on making stone tools or even iron ones. Make sure you have plenty spare stone shovels, axes, swords, and picks. Keep some torches handy for exploring dark caves.
Tip 6: Be careful checking outside in the morning. Zombies and Skeletons may not have burned yet, and Creepers may destroy everything you just did!
Tip 7: Pack up! Chances are, you won't want to stay here. Pick a permanent shelter in an ideal spot for mining, woodcutting, and exploration. Attempt to keep it close to your spawn, or it will be hard to find your way back if you die.
You have survived your first night! Congratulations!
Happy exploration!
