I've had to unban the member "NickThePrik" two times in the last day. The ban reason for both cases was that the name is inappeopriate. I don't see how referring to oneself as a "prick" is offensive to others since the word is really on the same level as calling someone a "snot", "dick", or "jerk". If someone made the name "HullBreachTheFecalMatter", "CommanderTheCoprophage", or "LordZeusTheChupaguano", then it would be different. (I specifically gave examples longer than the maximum username length.) Yet, Nick is referring to himself as the prick, probably from an inside joke from friends.
If you do find a very offensive name, be sure to let me know. I will contact the member and make a rare offer of a name change.
thank you hull breach i was in a chatroom with about 2 admins and got worried but they said sorry for banning me and said something about a hull breach blog so i decided to look it up :/
I've seen many people banned for their names when it wasn't necessary, usually from a missunderstanding (ex: RAinboWsRgay). I don't understand why admins don't ASK the person what their name means before they ban the person, especially if the username is a bit on the obscure side.
