The mysterious woman raises the gun and fires two shots that go whizzing by Carter's head and through the door behind him. "What the hell!!" He screams, "You could've missed, you know!" The woman sighs, glaring at Carter, "Do I look like someone who misses?" The suited man stops talking.
"Now where did I put Mr. Paradox?" The woman searches around in her pockets, fidling around a bit before pulling out a small, metallic object. "Found him!" She places the circular handheld device on the rough carpet, tapping various button-like pads. The woman steps back, wiping her hands on Carter's shoulder. He stares at her, breathing in as if he was about to say something but didn't.
A few seconds later, several blinding lights flicker on and off from the peculiar contraption. The lights flash, creating a spectacular scene for the two who are standing in the room. A final effulgent glow permiates around the area, leaving behind the silhouetted form of a man. Carter stares in awe, mumbling," Who is..." The woman looks to Carter, whispering, "That would be Mr. Paradox." The seemingly surreal fingure steps out of the shadow. "Why hello again, Carter! And bonjour to you too, Claire." Carter raises his hand to wave back but instead covers his mouth in amazement. Claire walks towards Mr. Paradox, "I'm guessing the cops are going to show up pretty soon. I say we split." Paradox nods, grabbing the luminescent device, placing in his coat pocket. Carter follows the man out of the room, accidentally tripping over two dead bodies laying in the hallway that had been shot not too long ago. Claire smiles, packing a few objects into a small duffle bag. As she leaves, she glances behind her. Claire stops, turns around, and grabs one of the chess pieces that had been knocked over. She stuffs the queen piece into her pocket, moving swiftly out the door.
