Hello, thank you for clicking my new blog, I hope I don't disappoint.
First thing I want to point out is that a lot of times the first thing that comes out of a new user's keyboard is 'Hi. Can I be an admin?' This is rather annoying to many people, as some of these people have worked hard to be one to no avail. So please be respectful of other people and wait your turn, if you get one.
Moving on, next thing that will typically be posted is either 'How do I get a picture next to my name?' or 'How do you guys make your entire post colored?' I would like to quote the welcome that you get once you enter a chatroom 'Welcome to the DSiPaint Chatroom! For a command list, type "/help" For a rule list, type "/rules"'You here this EVERY time you enter a chatroom, so why does everybody seem to miss the part that says:
'For a command list, type "/help"'? Type in /help to get the entire command list. For the lazy, here it is:
Command list:
/addfriend [Name] - Add member to friends
/adminlist - Show all admins
/avatar [Character] - Change/clear avatar
/avatarlist - Show clickable avatars
/avatarsuperlist - Show all avatars
/away - Change to away status
/banlist - Show banned members
/block [Name] - Block posts from member
/blocklist - Show blocked members
/chatswap [Chatroom] - Hotswap chatrooms
/chucknorris - Random Chuck fact
/fish [Name] - Slap person with smelly fish
/help - Help info
/link http://[URL] - Create hyperlink
/me [Activity] - Current activity
/pm [Name] - Start/end private messages
/profile [Name] - View member profile
/rules - Display rule summary
/smiliesuperlist - Show all smilies
/special [Name] - Custom chat command
/unblock [Name] - Unblock posts from member
Another common mistake with this is that there are 2 versions of the / on the DSi, it's that backslash.
Lastly, A lot of people, not only new members, feel that if nobody says hi to them, they are hated and ignored. It isn't that, it's just that people don't find it worth responding to because they don't see you as a friend. This is not a good reason, and we (including myself) should get better and try to make this place welcome for all.
yesh, exactly![blog] i alwayz say "haiz" to ANY member who comes in the [theoretical] Chatroom Door, even if i'm in pm-mode, or in deep conversation. i especially it though, when OLD members whine if they're not kissed up to when they post something. they oughtta be more mature, and set a good example...
hmm, i think i rambled to long. point is, nice blog.
