I sat on the bench, head down, eyes closed, silently praying for peace and for God's will to be done. He made me pass district, so He was capable of making me place in state.
I looked up to see my teacher talking to another familiar looking lady on the other side of thee room. I realized it was Mrs. Smith, my old teacher I'd been with for about 3 months. I stopped taking from her because we didn't work well together. She wasn't my first teacher, though.
I walked up to them and said hello. Leaning on a side table, I chatted with them, all the while growing more amxious for the awards to be given out.
"Sarah couldn't come." I heard Mrs. Smith say. "She had another scholorship competition today."
I colored slightly. Sarah was the older sister of a cetain teenage boy...
I heard it suddenly grow quiet. I turned and saw the judges with the certificates, medals, and trophies, making their way to the end of the room. Then they spun to face the crowd. The lady cleared her throat.
"For the 5th and 6th grade division..."
I sighed. Not my turn yet.
They annouced the winners of that division. Mrs. Smith's young student got honorable mention.
Then, thejudge started speaking again.
"And for the last dividion, 9th and 10th grade..."
I pricked up my ears. This was my group.
They first called the performers to come get their certificates. I shakily went to grab mine. Then, they began.
She stared announcing the people who got a 1 rating and a medal, a 1 meaning you did exceptionally well.
I held my breath. One person, two, three, four...
Then, I heard something. I heard MY NAME BEING CALLED! I'D PLACED! I'D PLACED IN STATE!!
As I walked up to get my medal amidst the roar of applause, I contemplated. No, I hadn't gotten first or second. Not honorable mention either. But I'd placed the place God wwanted me to place.
I giggled excitedly.
"I CAN'T BELIVE IT! THANK YOU LORD!"
(P.S. once again, 100% true. Comment what you thought of my experience. Thanks!)
