Mean Breeds. Why are they labeled as such? Because they ARE meaner then your average breed? Or is it because the owners of these dogs are ignorant & just don't train them right? In my line of work I see so many of these helpless creatures, dogs already deemed 'mean' because of their collective breeds reputation. Because of this, they are abused, tortured, starved, hurt, even killed. In many towns, including my own, they're trying to make it illegal to own some breeds that are deemed a 'mean breed' such as the American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitt Bull) simply based on reputation. In many other towns, they already ARE illegal to own as house pets. What these people don't know is that if they do their research, they'll find that what the reputations states, & what the fact states are actually quite the opposite. So I have compiled some FACTS & posted them here in this blog.
First, we'll clear up, Why are they deemed 'mean breeds'? Most sources say that they are deemed as such because they are stated as 'more inclined to attack humans' but undoubtedly, in any direction you turn, you can make that breed good or bad, depending on how you raise them. Now, lets look at the so called 'mean breeds' the list is as follows in order from mildest to meanest:
