Hello again here at DSiPaint everyone! I have had Metroid Prime: Hunters for nearly a year now. So, I have made this review to share my opinion with you all.
Graphics: 10/10
Metroid Prime: Hunters has amazing graphics! In my opinion it is the best Nintendo DS shooter in history so far. Call of Duty for the Nintendo DS is very lousy and has cheap graphics.
Gameplay: 9/10
The Metroid Prime: Hunters gameplay is very fun and enjoyable. Although, it takes a while to get used to the feel of a shooter on the Nintendo DS. You may simply go into the “options” menu and edit your control settings to how you feel comfortable. There are two ways to get into the “options” menu. 1: You can go into it simply from the main menu. 2: In adventure mode you may edit your control options inside your ship. Here are all of your options…
-Sensitivity: You may change the sensitivity from 1-15.
-Look invert: You are allowed to turn the look invert on and off. What is look invert? When you have look invert on, your view will be moved up when you move it down, and down when you move it up. When off, it’s just normal and your view moves up when moving up, etc.
Characters: 10/10
Metroid Prime: Hunters is made up of 8 prime characters. All of them have unique abilities and weaknesses. Note: There are many other creatures and characters, but these are the most outstanding.
Samus Aran- She is the central character of the Metroid series. A bounty hunter, she uses her armored power suit to hunt space pirates and other dangerous forces. She frequently crosses paths with dangerous creatures called Metroids in her adventures.
Kanden- Kanden is a bounty hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters. An edgy scientist's super-soldier project, Kanden is built for death and destruction. His Stinglarva Alt-Form leaves tiny bombs that chase the opponet if they get too close.
Spire- Spire is a bounty hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters. The last of his kind, Spire seeks the Ultimate Power to discover the mystery of his vanished race. His Dialanche Alt-Form has the unique ability to scale walls.
Trace- Trace is a bounty hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters. A member of the feared Kriken Empire, Trace is in search of the Ultimate Power as part of his rite-of-passage and to bring glory to the Kriken race. His Imperialist Affinity Weapon can render him invisible, perfect for sniping.
Noxus- Noxus is a bounty hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters. A keen paladin of the Vho race, Noxus searches for the Ultimate Power to keep it from the clutches of evil. His Judicator affinity weapon can freeze enemies in their tracks.
Sylux- Sylus is one of the most popular hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters. A sworn enemy to the Galactic Federation and Samus Aran, Sylux seaks the Ultimate Power for reasons unknown, though obviously dubious. His Shock Coil Affinity Weapon sucks the life out of his opponents.
Weavel- Weavel is a bounty hunter from Metroid Prime Hunters. A vicious space pirate that was reconstructed after a near-fatal encounter with Samus. His Halfturret Alt-Form makes for easy flanking and good point defense.
Gorea: Gorea is immensely powerful and is the final boss in the entire Metroid Prime Hunters game.
Difficulty: 9/10
Metroid Prime Hunters is highly difficult. In the beginning it is quite easy, except you only have one health round in the beginning of the adventure. As you play through, you may find health packs in un-expected areas in the game. You may find expansion packs, along with universal ammo for your special weapons in adventure mode. I say that this game is extremely difficult, and takes a good amount of time of serious gameplay to complete.
Multiplayer: 10/10
Not only “Adventure mode,” but there is even “Multiplayer mode!” Metroid Prime Hunters is extremely famous for its multi-player gameplay! It includes three multi-player modes: Single-Card play, Multi-Card play, and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Single-Card play- Single-Card play lets you battle up to 3 friends who don’t have their own copy of the game by wirelessly sending them a special version of Metroid Prime Hunters.
Multi-Card play- Multi Card play allows you to battle up to 3 friends with Metroid Prime Hunters by connecting wirelessly. There are many fun game types such as Battle, Survival, Bounty, Defender, Prime Hunter, Capture and Nodes.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection- Nintendo Wi-Fi connection allows you to battle other hunters worldwide. You may play random games with random people or organized games with friends and rivals. Metroid Prime Hunters is the first game in the Nintendo DS library to support voice chat over the internet. You may use this function before and after battles with friends and rivals.
Find Game: This allows you to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and play random battles with people around the world. Although, it is slightly customizable. You may choose local region or worldwide, and you may choose to find people with nearly the same rank as you or any hunter.
Friends and Rivals: Using this you may play organized battles with friends and rivals on your friend codes list. This function is only to battle hunters entered into your friend code list. This includes all of the different battle modes we talked about with Multi-Card play. As I forgot to introduce earlier, if you have four players, then you are allowed to split up into two teams. As you play random battles, you play default battles with seven minutes till the end time. The first person to get 7 kills before the battle ends or the person with most kills in the end time win. If there is a tie, both players with be in first place.
There is also another thing I would like to discuss. On the Wi-Fi connection menu you may click “Edit friends and rivals” on the bottom left corner. In this page you can enter friend codes and add to your list. One great part about this though, You may view your own hunter license. It is viewed on the top screen display. Simply click the L and R buttons to switch to different sections of your hunter’s license. On this you may view your: Wi-Fi win record, Wireless win record, connection history, win ratio, win streak, lucky arena, favorite weapon, headshot kills, favorite battle, biped kills, alt form kills, kill streak, Wi-Fi play time, wireless play time and total game time. Not just that, but your hunters rank and hunter of choice. The hunter of choice is just the character you battle over the internet most often with. The hunter rankings are also something very cool. You are ranked from 1-5 stars, you rank up by gaining ranking points from Wi-Fi battles.
Rank 1- Bounty Hunter, 0 to 39 Ranking Points
Rank 2- Super Hunter, 40 to 139 Ranking Points
Rank 3- Elite Hunter, 140 to 389 Ranking Points
Rank 4- Master Hunter, 390 to 749 Ranking Points
Rank 5- Legendary Hunter, 750+ Ranking Points
Ok, now I will go through a bit of the storyline for you. In the single-player adventure mode, Samus embarks on a quest to find powerful relics left behind by an ancient warrior culture. But Samus isn’t the only bounty hunter on this mission. Along the way, she’ll have to fight off the galaxy’s most elite hunters who hope to harness the power for themselves. Trace, Weavel, Sylux, Spire, Noxus and Kanden are those bounty hunters. Ok, so there you have it… that’s Metroid Prime Hunters for you. Sorry that this is so long. I got really carried away in this game. For those of you that read through, thanks for reading! Until next time, have a great day everyone!
That was a very impressive review, much more thorough than some I've seen. I have that game, and my only qualm is that the bosses get very repetitive. The graphics on the cutscenes are incredible though!
I used play that game. The game is somewhat easier if you played Call of Duty. I know most secrets and glitches (yes, the game has a lot of those), ask me if you want help.
