The Nintendo 3DS is a new gaming handheld by Nintendo and is going to be the successor to the Nintendo DS family. The 3DS supports autostereoscopic 3D and is backwards compatible with most DS games and can play DSi games.(All images are click able)
As you can see here the 3DS has a sliding pad that can rotate in 360 degrees which is called the circle pad, the 3D screen is a 16:9 screen and is protected with a built in screen projector. There is a 3D slider which you can adjust your your liking or can turn it off completely. At the top there is a front facing camera and at the bottom of the touch screen is the select start and home buttons.
The front has a 2 cameras that have 3D picture taking capabilities(video feature maybe enabled in the future).
As seen here there is an LED notifier that alerts you when ever you when ever something happens Blue light means Spot pass green means ,Street Pass (We will get into that soon), Orange means friend online and Red means low battery.
Street Pass is a feature which you can use to exchange data with someone you encounter while you walk with your 3DS(Walking with 3DS also gives you coins which you can use in games for extra content) data sent can be anything like Miis ghost data or player info.
Spot Pass is another feature that seeks out wifi signals while the 3DS is in sleep mode, all these features can be turned off.
Friends are now integrated with the 3DS and registering a friend only takes 1 friend code now
A feature called Game memo will alert lets you take a picture of your game and write a note about it.
Miis a returning feature from the Wii hits the 3DS and lets you take a picture of yourself and generate a Mii, Miis from your Wii can be imported to your 3DS, and later on QR codes will let you get miis also.
The 3DS menu comes in formats similar to the DSi and the Wii and as seen here a standard, you can multitask on the 3DS letting you press the home button and go to a different app or check the internet for FAQs .
The 3DS comes with 2 built in games one called Face raiders and the other AR Games
Face raiders is a game where you take a picture of anything but preferably a face you shoot around trying to protect yourself.
And with AR Games it is the same deal you move the camera around a card and hit it, they are called augmented reality cards hence AR.
There is a music application and it does the same as the DSi one but this one supports mp3.
The 3DS can also play video and movies and can be placed on an SD card the 3DS is also bundled with a 2GB SD card
The 3DS also comes with a charging cradle
All 3DS games normally will look like this the max capacity is 8GB and at launch it will be maxed at 2GB.
The 3DS will have an online store called the eShop and it will feature videos demos and feedback about games, there will be Virtual Console and 3DSWare

The 3DS will like the past DS line have a microphone, with a gyroscope and accelerometer as well, there is a telescoping stylus which means it extends that is approximately 3.94 inches when fully extended. It takes about 3 and half hours to fully charge, the battery life is 3-5 hours when playing a 3DS game 5-8 when playing a DS game the the time can be shorter if you are using 3D, wireless communications, and a high light volume. The wireless communication on the 3DS supports wireless b and g and WPA/WPA2, the recommended distance from the access point is 98.4 feet it can be different depending on your surroundings.
The price of the 3DS in the USA is $249.99 and will come out on March 27th 2011 the European price will be set by your local retail store and it will come out March 25th 2011.
