At the front of the eyeis a thin transparent layer called cornea. The cornea lets light enter the eye. Its tough and clear as a windshield and protects the eye from dust. Behind the cornea is the iris (the coloured part of the eye) with a hole called the pupil. The pupil allows light to go through into the lens. The len focuses the light onto the retina at the back of the eye.The retina is made up of light-sensitive cells called rods and cones and its connected to the brain by the optic nerve. The infomation that the retina gathers is sent to the brain and made up into the images that we see. The eye is filled with vitreous humour, a clear jelly like subtance.
Facts: Only a small part of the eye is visible from the outside. The rest of the eye is protected inside the skull.
