LIEUTENANT here. I thought it would be interesting to do an interview on some of the admins. I have seen ones on COMMANDER and HullBreach but that it. Well I am gonna do my first one on the mysterious..
Haruspex.
Not a lot of people know much about him. Yes he is an admin that plays WoW but come on... what do you REALLY know about him?
Me: Hey Haru. How are you doing tonight?
Haruspex: I am alive.
Me: How did you find out about DSiPaint?
Haruspex: I was searching for something while in bed one night via the web browser, which if anyone actually knows me is rare, since I hate using the DSi browser. Anyway I was looking for what the next DSiWare title was or something, and I came across both DSiCade and this site. I went here first, then to Cade. I stayed on Cade for all of ten minutes before I realized it sucked, and came back here. I have been here on and off since around a month or so after the site launched.
Me: How long have you been admin here? What was your first job?
Haruspex: I actually do not remember how long I have been admin, and my first job was chat admin, then they just kept piling on.
Me: How did you choose the name Haruspex?
Haruspex: Its the name of one of my favorite songs by The Mars Volta.
Me: Everyone knows you are the WoW king.How did the allure of that game suck you in?
Haruspex: I used to play Guild Wars before I started WoW. A few of my friends in GW went over to WoW, and a few of my real life friends played as well, so I just came on over. I started playing WoW two or three months after launch, and have been there ever since, which sadly is almost six years. Needless to say it is more of a hobby now than just a casual game to pick up and play. Alot of time and effort has gone into the care of my characters, and while they are virtual and will never amount to anything outside, its still pretty nice to have a fully geared character to play.
Me: What is your favorite thing about WoW?
Haruspex: Its a nice get away. I work eight hours a day, and sometimes you just want to get away and kill virtual things. Its better than getting drunk or doing drugs to escape, and its cheaper. I guess I just like the "escape from reality" thing after a day of crappy reality.
Me: Why are you For The Horde?
Haruspex: Have you seen us? Why wouldn't anyone want to be Horde, we are awesome. Honestly I like the lore of the Horde over the lore of the Alliance. Plus too many little kids on the Alliance side, and grouping up with kids that do not understand how to play their characters properly is just not what I want to deal with in game, albeit there are just as much on Horde side, its not as much. Plus, have you seen us? We look AWESOME.
Me: So what do you do for a living when you aren't here? Any Hobbies?
Haruspex: My job is a Home Health Care Provider, I am basically a live in nurse to people that I take care of, without living there if that makes sense. I take care of people with disabilities and do basic chores and cleaning they cannot do, while making sure, depending on their disability, they are getting their treatments done and pills and medications taken on time. I currently take care of two HIV patients and a Diabetic with neuropathy. My hobbies include reading, lots of reading, listening to music, WoW and drawing. I do a bit of freelance graphic design on the side as well, but its usually for friends or volunteer organizations around town.
Me: Favorite part of the site?
Haruspex: I like the Blogs and the Help Desk. I like reading some of the blogs that people write, there are a few good ones out there amongst the text talk "look at me, I need attention" blogs.
Me: What are some common misconceptions that the members have about you?
Haruspex: That because I am one of the few adults on the site, it automatically means I am a pedophile and I am out to creep on the young kids. Nothing pisses me off as much as that, seriously I will tolerate text talk over that. Also, I am not really as mean as I come off as. I just have a very very low tolerance for idiocy, and while I know most of the people here are kids, I can tell the difference between "just being a kid" and idiocy.
Me: Anything else you wish to say or share?
Haruspex: My dog has the worst gas right now. Also, I had sushi for lunch today, INOUJELLY.
