I know many people were enjoying my TPS series. Many of you have realized that they have been deleted by Hull. After a a few messages were exchanged they were restored, but I chose to delete them anyway after finding out about my stupid mistake.
You see, many of you know that I was getting the information out of my book The Encyclopedia of Ghosts & Spirits: Second Edition by Rosemary Ellen Guiley. I was copying it word-for-word & I had cited it as a source in the series announcement, thinking I was safe from plagarism. When I read Hull's blog about plagarism, I should have asked about it instead of assuming I understood it all, then I would not have been in this position. I want to apologize for the mix-up & say that I do NOT condone plagiarism for any reason.
The lesson in this is: If you do not understand something, ASK because if you assume, then it will come back to haunt you.
I will, at some point in the very near future try to find something that excites me & is just as interesting as my TPS series. Quite possibly, I might ATTEMPT to continue the TPS, but in my own words, I'm still very wary about things, so I'm not sure what's in store for the future there.
I have to think that the author of the book must have gotten permission to put it in the book, or vice versa. I find many of these paranormal fanatics & researchers know each oter &/or keep in close contact
What was interesting about the copyright issues of this blog series is that I came across a paranormal website on Bing (see my anti-Google blog on that) which also copied word-for-word from that book.
I try to keep everyone informed about the correct way to cite copyright material in blogs because they are public-facing and indexed on several search engines. I had an entire blog on copyright infringement and how some publications are hiring attorneys to scour the Internet and bring lawsuits against bloggers who even reference a paragraph or two verbatim. Legally, no cease-and-desist order is needed before bringing a lawsuit. These lawsuits can be brought against either the blogger or webmaster.
Be aware that even paraphrasing requires citation. I'm not your language arts teacher, so I don't care about MLA, APA, or AP, citation. Just a simple link is fine.
