This Blog is a re-post from the incomplete Version. Enjoy.
Hello, there. I'm gonna define some different Genres of music. The reason that this is "un-biased" is because I will not be saying, for example: Pop sux! I will keep this as preference mutual as possible..
Jazz: Usually, a fast, rhythmic beat, perhaps w/ some lyrics, and usually upbeat. Most likely performed on a Brass instrument.
Blues: Perhaps the opposite of Jazz, the blues are usually slower, taking it down a notch, and are more deep sound-wise. Can be played w/ Brass or String.
Pop: Popular Music, the most common thing in the mainstream today. While not as diverse, you would be a total liar to say you don't have a Pop song stuck in your head. That's the point of Pop Music: Even though you might not enjoy, say, Katy Perry, chances are, you've got California Gurls or similar stuck in your head, making you do everything to the beat.
Rock: Think 80's collectively, but not entirely. Rock s usually String-Heavy, ielectric Guitar. It's probably what some would call "cool", or "Old School", and it's a rather loud genre over-all. Some of the better portions of Rock Genre include Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Queen, Aerosmith, and Green Day.
Techno: Probably the defining genre for the 80's. Techno consists of primarily beeps, boops, and bips throughout the song, w/ minimal to no lyric interference. A great example for this is Whip It, by Devo, a major Techno Group from the time.
Video Game Music: You are perhaps thinking,"What? How is this a type of music?" or "What freak listens to Beeps from a GameBoy?" Well, a huge amount of people do, and it's a real genre. If people didn't listen to it, Yoko Shimomura would be out of a job. But, back to the description...
Video Game Music, perhaps a little less commonly known as ChipTunes, is essentially just that: Music from Video Games. Some of the more commonly listen-to ChipTunes are Final Boss Themes from Video Games. But, they can also commonly be that catchy little tune you here in certain parts of a game. These days, there are not many compositions made specifically for games anymore, as Developers choose to use popular music.
Rap: A. A form of popular music developed especially in African-American urban communities and characterized by spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics with a strong rhythmic accompaniment.
B. A composition or performance of such music.

Metal: Metal: A heavy, strong style characterized by low electric guitar tuning and strong, often anrgy lyrics. The drums of this type of music generally utilize fast rolls and double bass pedals to emphasize the fast yet heavy feel.
