this is the tricky part. you will want to buy a cheap lock from the nearest shop. avoid big names, but equally avoid the cheapest.

Lock Mechanism
to understand how to pick it, you first need to understand it. basic locks are made up of three parts-
1.lock cylinder- the visible moving part.
2.keyway- the small part of which keys fit through.
3.pin tumblers- these are exactly what you need the pick for. made up of 2 metal cylinders and a small spring which connects it to the lock itself.

Advanced lock mechanics
these expensive locks are made up of more advanced parts.
1.steel structure- around the lock cylinder, this protects it from being picked or "drilled".
2.advanced pin tumblers- these are made up of four parts rather than three.
