How do we define lust? When you think of the word lust alot of words might come to your mind(love, sex, ect.). So could lust be just a simple crush? Or could it be a fatal affair? Lust is another word for deep attraction. It is fair to say that we`ve all been attracted to someone before, right? So just what exactly makes lust such a deadly sin we all might ask? Although lust means to have deep attraction for someone, it also means to pursue or want to be with that person by any means possible(lies, betrayal, murder, ect.). But what makes it a sin is because this person they`re pursuing might not allways have mutual feelings for them. I simply don`t understand why this is a sin. If you have heard the expression "We can`t pick and choose who we fall in love with" you can understand that we all deal with our feelings differently. There are some that can`t handle love like others and can`t control themselves. I feel like lust means that were not aloud to like someone that doesn`t feel the same, which I disagree with. I believe everything happens for a reason. So let love be.PEACE.
you right hull you made good points, I don`t write tese blogs to show off everything i know about a subject i just tell what i know and get the readers opinion in the comments
Sins aren't considered deadly because they literally send someone to the grave in all cases. They can be considered deadly because they have the ability to destroy everything set up in life. The truths to the "deadly" sins transcend religions, including the religion of Atheism.
Let's take some prime examples:
1. Tiger Woods This man had everything going for him. He had a great career, a stable marriage, and was well-respected by many people... but he was keeping a "deadly" secret. Woods' lust for sex led to something like 14 extramarital affairs. This whole life he had set up for himself was over. He lost his marriage, numerous sponsorships, and respect.
2. John Edwards This former US Senator and presidential candidate had a family and kids. During the last campaign, his wife came down with cancer and had to go through hospital treatment for months. Apparently what he couldn't get from her, he got from a member of his campaign staff. Then the staffer became pregnant. To hide this all from his wife, he tossed campaign money at the staffer and her husband to keep them quiet and tossed more campaign money at another staffer to claim paternity to the child... but the National Enquirer had footage of it all. Now Edwards has no political career and no wife. Plus, he will most likely be sitting in a prison cell for several monetary charges.
1.Good thing I'm athiast.I don't believe in sins and whatnot.
2.I'm lucky I got a girlfriend who lusts for me as much as I lust for her...That could be taken not as intended... 0.o
In the Bible, Jesus places lust on the same level as adultery. If one thinks about it, someone lusting while married (i.e. pornography, coveting, etc.) can lead to secrets in the marriage that can potentially result in destruction of that bond of trust. Once trust has failed, the marriage may, too, fail.
