As VERY few of you know, I design (lame) games. Basically I know how to make a VERY simple pokémon game.
Many people wanted a way to customize your Pokémon character. Well, here are some reasons it would not have them-
•Sprites
As every Game Maker knows, sprites are the pictures or animation of the game. Every 2D game has sprites. In 3D, it's a whole different things. 3D use textures and 3D objects. The textures cover the objects.
Because of the HUUUUGE lack of sprites, it's not going to be available.
•Scripts
As many of the Game Makers know, a script is required to make a game.
A script that enables you to do different character clothes is NOT easy, because when scripts execute in a game, they change to a certain sprite. That's either caused by a Variable, or an Event.
Making a character with clothes isn't simply that hard, but still not easy. You'll have to set a variable and set another, and another, and another, and check for all of them while doing a certain Event(E.G.: Pressing right arrow). It's not just laziness, but ALOT of codes.
•DSs Limitations
As many of you know, the DSs has limitations while running games. It can not just run the whole script/code for the customed character. It'd probably explode(letteraly).
The customed characters MAY happen in the 3DS. Or if the games turned to a bigger console.
Note: Pokémon Black/White/Platinum/Diamond/Pearl/HeartGold/SoulSilver ARE 3D. Just not PERFECT and smooth 3D. More like textured walls and rectangles.
EXTRA: On the 3D textures, these are kind of simple to make, but hard to move. When making a 3D game, with moving 3D walls, you need: a camera; a 3D mode starter; a 3D object wall.
The camera just basically follows the character. The 3D starter starts the 3D mode. The 3D wall is self explanatory; it 'draws' itself at the start of the game.
Basically it's simple, but needs knowledgement.
There are games on the DS where you can customize your character.. one of the reasons why you can't on pokémon is probably something to do with how your character is sometimes a sprite and sometimes an anime character thing..
Good job, I will note, it's highly unlikely that the Pokemon MAIN Series will ever move to a Home Console. The point of Pokemon was connectivity, sharing, and trading on the GO. That's why GameBoy was perfect for it. Good Blog otherwise.
Nintendo doesn't make pokemon games. Game Freak does, so please change that.
You said the DS"i" has limitations, but Pokemon Black/White aren't DSi exclusive titles, they are DS titles, DSi isn't a system. Is a upgrade, please change that too Biphe..
Not trying to start a fight but...the 3DS has an huge processing power, i guess technically "everything" can be done and run on that device, since it matches home console's specs in a PROPORTIONAL way (And visual quality).
So...the probability of a pokemon game never getting customizable characters on the 3DS is just too small.
I'm not being harsh or anything, i am doing my job reviewing your blog...so please, if you edit it let me know and i will feature it.
First honest but rude than a liar...Thats my motto, it basically means i say everything, regardless of the reaction.
