You ignore the man and he recedes into the dark vent. As you get closer to the door you feel anxiety. You have no idea what’s on the other side of that door. All you can hear is a soft clamp sound. It’s what you would imagine an air lock would sound like (if they exist).m It’s your turn. You enter the door and end up on a conveyer belt. You stop and a few thin mechanical arms grab your organic arms and force them away from your sides. For thin metal rods, they were pretty strong. Two big metal plates with indents in them move towards you and appear as if they are going to squish you. You find that the indents perfectly match the depth and curvature of your body. When the plates come off they leave a light armor on your body. You knock on it to test its strength and it hurts your knuckles. It’s surprisingly strong for its weight. You are conveyed a bit longer until you stop and a suction cup sticks a light helmet on your head. The helmet has a light blue visor with a display written in a strange language shown on the inside. You step off the conveyor and through a door where another red alien tells you to report to instruction and briefing. You have no idea where it is so you follow a few other guys that wear the same armor as you. You are lead to a lecture hall on steroids. There is one red alien talking to masses of people in the same armor as you. Even though you’re sitting way in the back, you can hear the alien’s instruction as if he’s a few feet way. You can thank your awesome helmet for that. You are taught the specifications and controls of a military space fighter that you will apparently be forced to fly. If you don’t comply you will be thrown into a furnace. No good choice but at least one allows you to live. You are briefed on the enemy, a large ship controlled by blue violet colored aliens with glowing green veins. They apparently have a piece of important technology that these guys want. There are several empty promises for power and glory before you are guided to a huge hangar where you find your fighter and get in. You are surprised about how much you learned in the small time you were being instructed it must be the helmets. You lift off and fly through space. You radio some other pilots nearby and assemble a team. There is talk about sharing a large reward if your team recovers the technology but you know that the aliens think of you and the others as worthless soldiers. You talk with your team and learn a bit about all 6 of them. They all seem to mention a TV just like the one you saw. Come to think of it the same face is on the side of your ship. Right when you feel a bond forming with you and your team you see it, the fantastic ship. It has many glowing lights around it and you can see a few alien figures in it. It’s orbiting a planet that kind of looks like earth but what are the chances? You could be anywhere in the universe or anywhere in a different one. Your team quickly engages the ship while you stay back. You get caught up in the heat of the moment and go after the ship also. The huge enemy ship is well equipped. It periodically fired a large white beam that clipped the sides of a few of your team mates. It hit one of them right down the middle and completely destroyed the ship and person in it. After what seemed like hours of volleying fire your team’s small quick ships wore out the big slow enemy. The enemy was shot one too many times and fell to the planet it was orbiting. A member of your team contacted base and a few of their ships went to the surface of the unsuspecting planet and took the technology. The last thing you hear is “See ya newbies” before you ship and the others are shot and left to fall victim to the vacuum of space.
