Hey everyone, since I love roller coasters so much, I though I'd start writing blogs about my favorite ones! First up:
X2: Extreme To The Second Power
Opened: 2002
X from 2002-2007
X2 from 2008-Present
X opened in 2002 and was a prototype "4th Dimensional" Coaster.
4th Dimensional Coasters have seats that can rotate 360 degrees while on their course.
X officially opened in 2002, but was plagued with technical problems. it closed several weeks after opening until early 2003.
The ride itself is intense, but only requires you to be 48 inches. Riders start off facing backwards, but as the ride progresses, you change to forwards, then to backwards again.
The company that built the ride, Arrow Dynamics, who is famous for coasters such as The Matterhorn, went bankrupt because of the ride. The prototype had pre-designed layouts, but Magic Mountain wanted a custom layout, and problems ensued.
In 2007, a decision was made to close X, many people though it was for good. The Mountain then announced that X would be returning in spring of 08' at X2.
The ride would be re-painted, and receive new trains.
Special effects were also added to the ride, including two giant flame throwers that spewed fire as you past.
The ride opened in 2008 to rave reviews. The roughness of the ride has decreased dramatically since the transformation, and the onride audio works fantastically.
X2 remains one of my favorite coasters to the sheer thrill it gives you.
The music on the ride makes it scarier then it really is. I also feel like my stuff is gonna fall out of my pockets when the seats flip.
When are you planning to review riddler's revenge?
