Yesterday, my teacher was teaching my class some propaganda techniques that stores, commercial, and other companies do to persuade you to buy there items. Some of the following techniques are:
Testimonials:Using a famous person to endorse the product or item.
Transfer:Transferring good looks, feelings, or ideas to the person who the propaganda is meant to influence. Suggests the positive qualities to be associated with the product and the user.
Bandwagon:To convince the audience to do or believe something because everyone else is doing it.
Plain Folks:Suggesting something is practical and a good value for ordinary people.
Glittering Generality:Using words so strongly positive in emotional content that just hearing them makes you feel good. The words express a positive meaning without actually giving a guarantee.
They use all of these techniques to fool you. That's why you will sometimes see people sleeping on the curb of a store, so that they can get the new item and the store wont run out of them. They want you to think it will finish so that when you do rush in the store and there isn't enough items for all those people, you will buy other things. They also use the techniques so you will fit in with everyone, it's called bandwagon. The store owners want you to feel like since everyone is doing it you should to.
