I would like to point out, that this review is qualified to be submitted, as the game in question most likely will be available on the éShop. And besides, most people still have GBC/GBAs, or GBA Players. Thank you. Alright, since the e-Shop will be coming out in May, and the fact that Nintendo will be doing re-releases of past GB/GBC Games, I thought I may as well review this GBC game.
So, hopefully, some of you remember Yu-Gi-Oh, in all of its former glory. There have been a few Adaptions of the popular card game for Consoles, and not all were successful. This is one of the successful ones.
Price: $4.99 at Play N Trade
Plot: Not much, really it's a pick up and go game, similar to the Smash Bros Series.
Graphics:... It's GBC. Actually, they're quite nice. The Card Artwork is rather detailed for most.
Sound: Wonderful catchy ChipTunes all the way! Every Duelist has their own composition, and most are memorable.
Card Creator: I will tell you now, this wasn't something I expected when I bought it. You have the ability to create your own cards, using Card Pieces you earn after every Duel. You can hold up to 40 of your own Creations.
Password: This game uses a password system, used to enter most cards from your actual Deck. To use, select the menu Option "Password" from the Menu. You will see Yami-Yugi telling you to put in the 8-digit password. These are found on the bottom-left corners of the old cards, and consist of only the #'s 0-9. After inputting your Password, you will receive 1 "copy" of the Card you put in. here are a few passwords to prove my point.
Wicked Mirror 15150371
Widespread Ruin 77754944
Wilmee 92391084
Tiger Axe 49791927
Time Wizard 71625222
Thousand-eyes Rest 63519819
Dunames Dark Witch 12493482
Dungeon Worm 51228280
Eatgaboon 42578427
In addition to Card Codes, there are also a few Character Codes. Observe.
More Cards from Grandpa Moto
Enter 65437205 in password mode and Grandpa Moto will give you an additional card after you win a fight. Since Tea and Grandpa Moto will give you a card, you get two times the cards as normal.
Yami Bakura 07119986
Yami Yugi 70715281
Entering the above two codes will allow you to face those opponents. You can only have one activated at a time, but, all records linked to the passwords foes will remain intact. There are 3 other passwords for 3 more Duelists. You may look those up yourself.
Overall: It's a good game, easily worth the $4.99 for an authentic copy, if you still one a GBC/GBA. You will not be disappointed by it, especially if you're a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh still. The sheer amount of cards they put into the game(800, to be exact) is amazing, and the Duels are challenging and fun. I hope this is lined up to appear in the e-Shop as a Virtual Console Title for 3DS. Happy Dueling.
