Hey Guys! Crymson here, to educate the new people and possibly other users about the colors and job responsibilities of your Admins. As most of you know, a colored name in the chatroom equals an admin. But what are the responsibilities of each job? What do these Administrators have to do to keep you guys and the site safe? Well keep reading to find out!
So lets get started on the admin color system shall we. As you know each color represents how many jobs that particular admin has. They are as follows:
1 Job - Pink 2 Jobs - Purple 3 Jobs - Dark Blue 4 Jobs - Sky Blue 5 Jobs - Seafoam Green 6 Jobs - Lime Green 7 Jobs - Yellow Green 8 Jobs - Yellow 9 Jobs - Yellow Orange 10 Jobs - Orange 11+ Jobs - Red ?? Jobs - Black Overlord - Red/Blue Flashing
The black admin as we all know is COMMANDER. His custom color is what makes him the "Unknown Admin." You will never see his color change due to recent promotions or demotions. As explained on his profile.
Now that you know what the different colors signify, that they mean the amount of jobs the admin has... Lets explore what each job entails. As us admins know, our jobs are not "easy", they take time and commitment, but we do them for you, to make this site better.
Affiliates Alright I know most of you have seen COMMANDERs site... Or strolled on Mt. Olympus. These are Affiliate sites. Affiliates are sites that are linked to DSiPaint by a user. If you are a site owner/creator you would submit your site for review and acceptance. This is where an Affiliate Admin would come in. Affiliatemins review DSi Sites that are submitted for content, layout, appropriate ads, and DSi compatibility. Any site that has inappropriate material or plagerized coding will be denied. Affiliate websites can also be related to the newly released 3DS and also the Wii console. Please note that any Affiliate websites submitted that REQUIRE registration before you can do ANYTHING at all that are rejected. onmbl.com ones are a good example since the homepage is a login page and nothing more.
Blogs And News This is typically one of the most fun admin jobs. For me atleast. When you write a blog and click that little box labeled "Submit For Review As News", it is logged into a list for a Blog Admin. The Blog Admin then reviews it. Common things to strive for when submitting a blog is good grammar, and spelling. Be sure the blog is lengthy and well structured. Blogs submitted can be poems, short stories etc. News blogs can be anything from Nintendo Announcements to just news in your neighborhood. The Blog Admin that reviews your blog with decide whether it is deemed acceptable and judge based on their own discretion. PROFANITY IN BLOGS IS NOT ALLOWED. Also, I must point out, do not plagerize. Any blogs submitted that are copy/pasted from another source will be deleted. This includes song lyrics, short stories, poems, quotes, etc. Anything that is NOT your original work is considered plagerized, even if the source is cited. So remember this before submitting your blog for review.
Bulletin Board The Bulletin Boards are areas in which different topics can be discussed. Anything from the discussion of This Website to What's your DSi color? BB Threads are a great way to voice your own opinion. But occasionally some people take advantage of this with spam or profanity or inappropriate Bulletin topics. This is when a Bulletin Board Admin is contacted or they find the offence themselves. They have the ability to delete threads, stick and unstick threads and also lock a thread making it no longer able to be commented on. If the topic or spam is really bad, a ban may be issued after a Chatmod is notified.
Chat Moderator We currently have 10 Active Chatrooms. Luigi, Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Event, Game, TMJ, and of course the 3 language rooms. A Chat Moderator observes and oversees these chatrooms. A Chatmod is the only Admin with the ability to ban, and do alerts in the chatrooms. They can also see /pms as well, AND ban from Mt. Hildar demo too. Chatmods have a big responsibility watching for profanity, bypassing, sexual content, cybering (A BIG NO NO) and inappropriate links. Not only that, but they have to monitor the language rooms for English speakers, (an instant ban for certain chatmods) and help regulate Events that are held in the Event room on special occasions. Chatmod is one of the most difficult jobs in my opinion.
Gameshow Host So... You have seen on the Homepage, an icon labeled "Gameshows"? This is where special in chatroom games are held. Special members are given the ability to Host any gamshow they would like at any time. Though the Gameshow job adds no color to your name, the admin responsibility is still present. You must be able to provide entertaining and fun games based on any topic. Acronyms are always a favorite as well as Trivia. The admin issues points for the correct answer to their questions and that is how a Gameshow winner is chosen. This job will be enhanced with the new Game Show section, which is still in the works.
Groups The Groups area is a section for you the SDK user to converse and post things just for you and your friends. You can create any kind of group you want and modify the backgrounds and text much the same way you customize your profile. You can then invite all of your friends to join. Only people you want in your group are able to join. Like with the Bulletin Boards, the Group Admin has the ability to delete posts and Users that are inappropriate. This means spamming, vulgarity (profanity or sexual content) and troublemaking users. The Groups Admin can request that your group be deleted if deemed necessary.
Paintings Obviously this means the paintings you create. This is DSiPaint afterall. The Paint Admin scans through every painting made by every user. Paint admins have the ability to delete your paintings, or if you're on the Wii or computer, the Paint Admin can delete your Sprites as well. This also means any paintings/sprites of sexual nature, profanity bypasses, inappropriate pictures involving killing and so on. Spam paintings are also deleted. But what is considered spam? Saving your painting/sprite after every line drawn and thus making your album consist of 30 of the same painting is considered Spam. You can and will be banned for this as it is considered cheating to gain a higher Artist Badge rank.
Placebo This new Admin position has had quite some confusion as of late. But... Get ready for this.. You DO have a power! Unlike the Gamshow Host job, the Placebo Admin position does in fact boost your color. But that is not all. The Placebo was confused before as an Admin job with no job... While that is technically true, that the Placebo admin doesn't exactly have a job to perform, you are equipped with a power only Mods possess! The Placebo Admin has the ability to send mail to ANYONE on SDK. This means people not on your friends lists. You can mail anyone at anytime without having to friend them. So no more wondering.
Pollster This feature was recently added as well. The member polls on the Homepage are what the Pollster Admin oversees. Member polls are like mini surveys. A question is asked and then multiple choice answers are given to determine the popularity of a single answer based on Member votes. Like with a Blog Admin the Pollster accepts or denies Member Polls. Denied polls are any containing foul language, Racism, sexual vulgarity, and/or slander of other users. The Pollsters delete inappropriate polls and if the offending Poll is really bad, a ban is usually requested.
Profile The Profile Admin job is pretty obvious. They monitor your profile for inappropriate material. They have the ability to comment on your profile, even if it is set to [private] to request the removal of pictures on your profile which could be considered detrimental to the people on the site. Meaning pictures showing nudity, even cleveage, ladies, is inapproprate... So please no bathing suit pictures or revealing clothes. Same to you fellas, no shirtless pictures of you or pics of you in your underwear, we don't need to see that. Also drug reference pictures, violence, gang affiliation and so forth. Anything considered not appropriate for kids will be deleted. If the pictures are bad enough, a ban will be issued. Profile admins can also delete any offensive comments on your profile. And let me make this clear, as I have been hit with the excuse "No one said we can't curse in our Bio's", NO PROFANITY IN YOUR PROFILE!!!
Savii With the huge launch of the Saviis a while back, there was a new job. The Savii admin. Saviis, if you don't know, are customizable cartoons. Kind of like a Mii on your 3Ds. The only difference is Saviis don't move. On a Savii you can change hair, eyes, nose, and mouth. Even the face shape, body style an clothes using free Accessories, or using your Savii Points or Bucks to purchase more unique accessories from the MarketPlace. You can also put your Savii up for Auction so people can bid on it and win it if they like what you have made. The Savii Admin browses through all Saviis made and deletes the inappropriate ones, much like the Painting Admin does. They delete for racism, vulgar or profane names and even descriptions. There have been instances of members also putting the same Savii up for Auction multiple times in order to acquire more Savii Points/Bucks. This is considered spam. The Auctions will be deleted by the Savii Admin and a ban will be issued by a Chat Mod.
Secretary on the Homepage there is an icon labeled "HelpDesk", this is the considered the Secretary home. Secretaries help answer any questions you, the user, may have regarding the site, other members, or even report a glitch that you have found. The Secretary scrolls through the questions on the HelpDesk and answers them as accurately and as helpfil as they can. If the question can't be resolved, we leave the question open for someone who can better assist you. HullBreach frequents the HelpDesk as well and answers questions Secretaries are unable to. Only Secretaries can answer a HelpDesk question, your friends and other users cannot. If there is a question you'd like to ask, please read through the other posted questions to be sure that your question has not been asked already. If it has been asked, duplicate questions will be resolved or deleted by the Secretary.
Terminator So what exactly is a Terminator? Yes it is a movie starring Arnold Schwartzenegger, but we are hardly a T-600 Animatronic lifeform. No, to terminate is to "put to an end". That is essentially what a Terminator does. They have the ability to disable your account. If you are a frequent member on the banlist, you may qualify for a permanent ban if your offenses are bad enough. Perma'd members are theoretically NOT allowed back. When a Terminator encounters an alt of a perma'd member, another perma will be issued. If you were a perma'd member, contacting HullBreach is what needs to happen. He can decide whether or not you are allowed on the site. Certain perma'd members qualify for an instant perma without warning, as they are indefinitely NOT allowed here. Terminators can also unban a banned member. But not because the "I did nothing wrong" excuse makes us feel bad, an unban should only be granted if the banning admin gives permission for it to be done.
TWiiter Ever been in a room and a TWiiter message pops in? Normally gray text saying a username and a message from that user. It's similar to Twitter for your phone or PC. it gives you status updates or any pointless information from a user. Like, I could type on TWiiter "Skunkman smells", and that message will be shown in every chatroom at the same time. This needs to be monitored for the same thing everything else does. Profanity. Spam. Sexual innuendos or attempted inappropriate site links. Even a personal attack to another user. A TWiiter Admin would delete any TWiits that fit those categories, and request a ban for that user. Also, if you didn't know already, you can TWiit as much as you like as long as it is not spam, but only two alerts will be posted in the chatrooms per day.
Well.. This blog took me 3 days to complete. I'd like to thank the following Admins for helping me when I got stuck: Mr. Lord Zeus, Haruspex, COMMANDER, JABINATOR, and a special thank you to HullBreach for reviewing and providing information to assist this blog. I hope you guys enjoyed this, as I enjoyed writing it.
This blog rocks! It's helpful, too. I've wondered constantly what it's like as an admin (Aside from being popular and getting trolled by noobs sometimes)
