The children spoke all at once, each yearning for the opportunity to tell of their suffering. Hardships indeed! They told of cancer, fire and pollution. Murder, poverty, and greed. Worst of all, the cruelty towards children.
Was it not enough to ignore their insight? Was it not enough to doubt their abilities? Fairness seemed a lost cause on this planet.
Some children went without food, homes, toys, even clothing. Some adults, however, drank hundred dollar drinks and lived in enormous houses with people servants to do their work! I could'nt believe the nastyness some kidson this world were taught. A tiny boy told us of bullies.
"What is a bully?" Tiyun asked them. My ears must be fooling me. A child is wise and generous, they would never fight amongst themselves... Did the elders not speak to them with love? Was innocence corrupted and bitterness introduced? We came none too soon. Could we end the violence and teach the humans how the brothèai live? I doubted that these adults coud handle a life without power, and power is what caused these issues.
"Children, children. Calm yourselves. Your Earth has many problems, yes. We will try, for your sakes and your sakes only, to turn things around. Do your guardians know where you are?"
"They don't know, and thay won't care," answered the first girl, Greea. "My 'guardians', as you call them, care not for our safety, just for the free labor we provide. It disgusts us how they use everyone to their own ends. Luke here is my younger brother. We are the only family each of us has."
"You poor child," says Yaine. She moves closer to embrace the children. You could tell they weren't used to any kind of comfort. Their faces showed their emotions cearly. Tears came to my eyes. Love is a myth on this world, and it's a depressing truth.
"And what of the rest of you? Are your guardians the same?"
There was no hesitation at all. The answer was unanimous.
"YES!" they shouted in unison.
