Hey guys, I'm starting up a new project. Most of you guys know that I make music and I have been for almost half a year now. It's gradually changed from just making samples to making full blown original pieces of music.
But what is "The Smalls Music Project"? It's a weekly system where I will release all of my currently made music for free, like it has always been. This time, however, I'm making it more organized and easily accessible.
The way I plan to do this is by having a shared Dropbox folder for everyone to access so that you can download the music and a Twitter/Facebook account that updates whenever new music or a new album is released.
Currently, there is only a shared Dropbox folder you can find here. Listening to the music requires a computer or a mobile device that supports music playing (iPhones, iPods, iPads, Androids, etc.) from a web browser.
In addition to all of this, I will be posting the .BAND (Garageband) and .MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) files so other people can mess with the composition of the music. That won't happen right away, but it will make it's way into it.
I also have a new song made just for the start of this project, click here.
G/net is back with it's classic community system I built long ago in a distant land. /net is a very old system and is quite flawed.
Am I actually going to continue using /net 2.3? No, the system will be grabbing elements from the /net 3.0 (Codenamed Feedr) code that has been made for myWorldnet. I feel that G/net benefits better from it than myWorldnet does. So basically right now, relax with my oldest DSi community system.
So, here's what's happening:
- Development for /net 3.0
- More functionality
- More secure
- Javascript (AJAX) used more efficiently, like it has been on myWorldnet.
- Simple profile management.
- Better alerts.
- And more.
- Doing that thing Hull and I planned on doing a year ago.
So look out for a development version in the next few weeks. Everything posted to the database on classic G/net will work on the development version as well.
I accept opinions. This new set of music I am creating is built around relaxation, so that's why they are repetitive.
This is the structure for making the songs:
- Start off with a beat with drums
- Gradually build up with synthesized instruments
- Start breaking off of the beat and focus on the core synthesized instruments
- Gradually break off synthesized instruments
- End with 1 or two instruments
Again though, this particular music now is to be relaxing. Not to fill your head with changing styles and whatnot. It's new to me since I'm the type who likes country music, rock, and metal.
I think the music could be classified under the genre of Ambient-Techno, or just Ambient.
