Bipolar is a complex illness with several types including: Bipolar 1, Bipolar 2, Cyclothymic Disorder, Mixed Bipolar, & Rapid-Cycling Bipolar. All of them ranging from mild to severe. Bipolar also has a host of different symptoms, the primary symptom being: Dramatic & unpredictable mood swings. Other symptoms of Mania include: Excessive Happiness, irritability, increased energy, less need for sleep, racing thoughts, & a tendency to make grand & unattainable plans. Other symptoms of Depression include: sadness, irritability, anxiety, loss of energy, uncontrollable crying, weight loss or gain, increased need for sleep, difficulty making decisions, & thoughts of death or suicide. 1 Compication of Bipolar is self-injury, also referred to as cutting, self-mutilation, or self-harm. Which sufferers use as an attempt to cope with negative emotions such as: extreme anger, anxiety, & frustration. More often then not, this complication is repeated & & is not a 1 time act. If untreated, Bipolar can lead to risky behavior, damaged relationships & careers, & suicidal tendencies. It often runs in families & researchers believe that there is a genetic component.

Random, im bipolar, its not 'unnecessarialy' depressed because we cant help being high or being low because Bipolar Disorder is a mental illness, not someone you call when they are depressed 'unnecessarily
I don't mean to be rude or insult anything, but a thought that popped up in my head when reading the cutting part was "So if you have bipolar disorder your emo?"
Oh wait, there is such a thing, but the definition says it's when there is no physical cause for something so some "cases" of bipolar which are just people(usually teens) who want attention or whatever who don't really have it, would probably be emotional and people who actually have some sort of horomone[sp] inbalance or whatever it's caused by, it would be classified as a mental disorder i'd say.
