Now, in my opinion, there have only been a few very sucessful titles on WiiWare, but World of Goo is one of them.
One of the most popular WiiWare games of all time, I never actually played it, until today. I discovered I had an unused WiiPoints Card, and decided to give this game a shot.
The Gameplay concept begins quite simple:
Use the Wii Remote to drag goo balls and create structures to reach the "goal" which in this case is a pipe.
This concept is heavily expanded on throughout the game itself.
The levels themselves can be anywhere from fun, to tedious, to obcsenely difficult. The addition of the Time Bugs, which allow you to go back in time one move, allows you to correct fatal mistakes, without starting all over again.
The controls are very simple. Point Wii Remote at Sreen, And Press A To Drag-n-Drop Goo Balls.
The graphics are very stylized, and combine simple 2D background with 2.5D objects. The overall result is a very visually stunning game.
The music itself is very well done, and the tracks are beautifully crafted. The only problem is the they can get repetittive if you get stuck on a level for a time.
The additional "World Of Goo Corperation" adds a bit more to the game, allowing you to try and beat records of Goo Ball Tower Heights among other things and adds a bit more longevity to the overall product.
World Of Goo is a fantastic title, and one of the best on WiiWare.
I find it truely amazing that it was designed by 4 guys sitting in a Cyber Café on their own time...
