The world was a sad place now. Nobody knew what to do with their free time. There were mass suicides everywhere. Why? There were no video games and everyones minds were erased on how to make them. Nobody thought it was possible but it happened. Here's how it went down.
One Week Earlier...
"I'll do it!" Caroline warned.
Caroline was the weird one of the group. She was funny and always had something to say. She always got good grades. She was a little short but had long brown hair.
"Please don't I'm begging you," pleaded Samuel.
Samuel was a smart guy, especially in math. He could play video games ALL day. His dream job was to get paid to play video games. He secretly had the hots for Caroline but nobody could know because he would get a lot of crap from his friends for it. That's besides the point, though. Samuel and Caroline both went to Hyperion High School. Hyperion High School was a decent sized school, it wasn't like the schools that had 5 million people in one class like the big cities, but it also wasn't like the small schools that had around 15 people in one class.
"I will!"
"If you slap me I will not hesitate to spit on you!"
"You wouldn't dare!" she said as she gave him the death glare.
"Don't tempt me, woman!"
Caroline slapped Samuel as hard as she could.
"Ow!" yelled Samuel. "Why did you do that?"
"Because you threatened to spit on me."
"Only because you threatened to slap me!"
"No, I didn't!"
"Yes you-"
"Shut up," she interrupted. "I'm a girl so that's means I'm right."
Samuel had learned long ago that you can never win a fight with a woman, he learned he should just accept that whether they're right or wrong, they're right.
"That's it," said Samuel.
He licked his finger and began to move it towards her.
"AAAAAH!" she screamed as she ran away.
"Ok, ok I won't do it."
Samuel wiped his finger off and stretched out his hand.
"Truce?"
Caroline walked up to him and shook his hand.
"Truce."
"Ok well I gotta go home now," said Samuel.
"Why?"
"I have a hot date," began Samuel, "with my video games."
"You and your video games. What would you do if there were no video games?"
"I don't know, I'd probably go into a deep depression."
"I'm going to blow up all the video games in the world and erase how to make them from everyone's minds," she said.
"Yea, ok, I bet. Are you going to make pigs fly while you're at it?"
"Ha ha, very funny. You just wait. I'll do it," Caroline teased.
"I'll believe it when I see it," Samuel said as he started to walk away. "I'll see you tomorrow, Caroline. Call you tonight?"
"Yea around 8, ok?"
"Ok. I'll talk to you then, bye."
Samuel got home and started to put his stuff away.
"Mom, I'm home," he yelled.
"How was school?" she asked.
"The usual, boring, got some homework done, and came home."
"How are things with you and Caroline?"
"Mom don't talk about that. What if someone hears you?"
"Ok so I take it you haven't made a move yet. Well supper will be ready in about an hour. It's your favorite, enchiladas."
"Mmmmmmm. Ok I'll be up in my room playing video games if you need me."
Samuel went into his room, a mess like any teenage boys room. He sat down on his bed and grabbed the controller. The system turned on like a beast awakening from it's slumber.
"Time to murk it up on Modern Recruit," Samuel said excitedly.
Modern Recruit was Samuel's favorite game. It was simple, easy at times bu tyet still had a challenge, and was violent. What more could you ask for in a video game? He started the game up and instantly got online to play with his friends.
"About time you got on Sam," said Cooper when Samuel joined the match.
"I was talking to my mom. Now hurry up I gotta go in an hour."
"Why?"
"Enchiladas."
"Mmmmmmm. Your mom's enchiladas are an orgasm in your mouth!"
"Hell yea!"
"So what do you want to play?"
"I need to level up some more. I really want to unlock the Uzi."
"Then let's play war."
"Alright."
They entered the match on the losing team.
"Just my luck, I need to level up and we're about to lose. Ok let's show these noobs how it's done."
10 Minutes Earlier...
Caroline walked into her room and swiftly put her bag on the hook and grabbed her TV remote at the same time. She began to flip through the channels like a metronome.
"The Krusty Krab pizza, is the pizza, for you and me," shouted the TV.
"Oh I love Spongebob!" Caroline exclaimed.
Caroline watched Spongebob until around 8:30 when she got ready to go to bed.
The Next Day...
"Hey Caroline," Samuel greeted her in the hallway.
"Oh hey Samuel."
"Did you get any farther on your evil plan?" he sarcastically said.
"Actually yes, I did," she stated.
"You're actually serious about it?"
"Yes, you spend too long playing video games. If they're all gone you could spen more time doing better things."
"I think I should tell Mr. Admongo about this!"
Mr. Admongo was everyone's favorite teacher. He somehow connected with them like no other teacher could. Once a month Mr. Admongo would have a party at his house and everyone stayed up playing video games.
Samuel ran as fast as he could to Mr. Admongo's class room. He had to tell him right away, but would he believe him when he told him? Would he think something like this is even possible? Questions like this whirled around his head like a cow in a tornado in the cartoons he used to watch. The wind rushed past his haid, his hair was flying back revealing the forehead Samuel hated to show.
"Mr. Admongo! Mr. Admongo!" yelled Samuel running down the hall.
"You know the rules, Samuel, no running in the halls," he scolded.
"Mr. Admongo, I have to tell you something."
"Yes, what is it?"
"Caroline."
Samuel stopped to take a big breath.
"What about Caroline? Is she alright?"
"She has an evil plan, I tell ya. She plans to, well I don't know how to say it."
"What do you mean? Just say it, Samuel!"
"She says she's going to blow up all the video games and erase from everyone's minds how to make them again!"
Mr. Admongo threw his head back and began to laugh.
"I'm not joking. She said so herself!"
"Did she also say that she was going to grow wings and fly away like a bird?"
"You don't believe me do you?"
"Samuel, that's impossible. Trust me I'm a teacher. You'll see, nothing is going to happen to our video games."
"Ok if you say so, Mr. Admongo. I'll see you in class."
The day went on like normal and Samuel and Caroline did their good bye routine at the end of the day.
2 Days Later...
"Today's the day," Caroline thought to herself when she woke up. "Every video game is going to blow up and everyone's minds will be erased."
She began to laugh like a mad scientist. She got ready for school and left.
"Good morning Samuel," she greeted.
"Hey," he began. "Two things. Why are you in such a good mood today and why are you at my locker, I usually greet you at your locker."
"I have something important to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Today is the day that I'm going to put my plan into action so I need to ask you a favor."
"Your plan? You mean the video game thing?"
"Yes, now please listen."
"Ok I'm listening," he sarcastically said.
Samuel still didn't believe she was going to blow his video games up.
"I need you not to play your video games tonight ok?" she said.
"Why?"
"Because I don't know how big the explosion is going to be. Just don't ok?"
"Ok ok, I won't. I promise."
A promise between Samuel and Caroline was never broken. It was like eating a cow pie, they wouldn't even think of doing it.
"Thank you, and watch the news too," said Caroline.
"Why? You know I hate watching the news it's so boring."
"Maybe they'll put something on the news about me erasing the memory of making video games."
"Ok, I'll watch."
That Night...
"This just in!" screamed the TV. "We have recieve word that everyone who has made video games has forgotten how to make them unexpectidly. The reason is unknown but we are doing our best to find out who and why they would do this."
"Oh my goodness!" said Samuel's mom.
"She's actually pulling this off," Samuel thought to himself.
BOOM! A noise upstairs.
"What was that?!" Samuels mom screamed.
"I think I have an idea. I will tell you when I get back down."
Samuel open the door to his room.
"Oh no."
His room was a train wreck. His bed sheets were all messed up. There was a big black stain on his wall where his video games used to be. Samuel fell to his knees like a dramatic soap opra.
"Why?!?!?!?" he cried at the top of his lungs.
Samuel's mom came running up the stairs.
"What in the world are you doing?"
"L-l-look," Samuel said in a quivering voice while pointing at the place where his video games used to be.
"The world isn't going to end without your video games!"
"Yes it is!"
The TV was still on downstairs.
"Everywhere video games are blowing up and leaving people speechless," shouted the TV.
"What am I going to do?" Samuel cried.
"Just try to go to sleep and we'll think of something tomorrow after school."
Samuel crawled into bed and tried to sleep. He didn't fall asleep for another two hours.
The Next Day...
"How could you?" Samuel yelled.
"How could I what?" shot back Caroline.
"Do what you did!"
"Eat cereal for breakfast?"
Samuel knew she was toying with him now.
"You know what I mean. Stop with your games, woman!"
"Ok ok. I told you I was going to do it."
"But why? Why would you do it? Do you know how many lives you have ruined?!"
"One, to show you that you can live without your video games. Two, I haven't ruined any lives. You're just over reacting!"
"You'll see you just wait!"
One Week Later...
"I'll do it!" Samuel yelled.
"No, Sam, don't do it!" Caroline yelled into the megaphone. "You have so much to live for!"
"No I don't my video games are gone, besides you stole that line from a movie!"
"Please don't jump, you have all your friends that love you, your family loves you,"Caroline hesitated to say what she was going to say next. "I love you, Samuel. Don't jump!"
"You should've thought of that before you destroyed my video games! Good bye, video gameless world!"
Samuel leaped off the roof of the skyscraper. The wind was wizzing through his hair, he hadn't felt this good since his video games blew up. He started to smile, the ground was getting closer and closer until his face landed on the pavement. His body lay there lifeless, like the ones you see in the movies that you just want to poke with a stick repeatedly.
One Week Later...
It was a rainy day on Samuels funeral. Caroline sat in the corner by herself, looking at the motionless body in the casket. She couldn't help but feel like all this was her fault.
"This is your fault!" scloded Samuels mom.
"How is this my fault?"
"Don't play dumb with me you little-" Samuels mom stopped to catch herself. "If you wouldn't have destroyed his video games he would still be here today. I hope you're happy!"
Caroline went the rest of her life in depression, she felt like a murderer. She felt like it was her fault that her best friend was dead. She felt like she was in a living hell until she died at the age of 75.
