Acceptance, it's always said to come from within. In essence, it's true. How can others accept you if you cannot accept yourself?
But, on the other hand. Their are the people who cannot accept who you are. Parents, friends, siblings, etc. People close to us who would rather see us miserable & in pain, then see us happy. I wrote this poem for victims of THEM types of people.
Accepting Me For Me
Why can't I
Drop the mask
Why do you
Have to ask
For me to pretend
Play a roll
Be someone I'm not
You'd rather see misery
You'd rather see tears
Why can't you accept
Who I've been
All these years
I'm happy now
As I am
Plain as day
No mask
No cover
Hiding me away
Still you tell me
Day after day
That you hate me?
Well I guess
You never loved me
Too begin with I'd like to note that CrymsonLiynn is the one who inspired me to write this poem.
I have read several Fanfictions following these lines strictly (albeit about unpopular tv shows). I actually really enjoy angst literature, so I like this.
